Amy Winehouse Ft. Nas- Like Smoke Breeze: Sasha has always had a way of making me feel special. Even when the rest of the world was adamant about showing how utterly pointless my existence is. Everything comes so easy to her. The future of the fae world is in her hands and she lives for it. Even on days, she feels low, she smiles brightly. When she's tried, she pushes herself past her limit and somehow just ends up becoming stronger than ever before. I've been watching from the sidelines my entire life. I've been trying to walk in step with her only to find that I've only been tracing the shadow of her footsteps as she gets closer to her goal. The most exciting thing about me is that I am related to Sasha Airstorm. The Guardian of the Realm. I firmly believe that. That's just the way things are when you're related to the chosen one. "Bre? Are you looking for Sasha?" Lord Elias used to be my best friend. He's the Lord of the Realm and is insanely gorgeous. He got his wings a couple of years ago. They're gold and silver. They're big for someone his age. Very Elite. I've been left behind and I'm not entirely sure where we stand now. He tends to avoid me. "No," I lied. "I mean yes?" "She's in the elder room," he grinned. "Is there anything I can help you with?" "I-uh. I just-no. I-" ugh! Why am I such a spaz? "I'll just come back later. Thanks for the offer, Lord Elias," "Are you sure?" he pressed. "I am," I lowered my gaze and lightly bowed. Looking the Lord of the Realms in the eyes is taboo here. Everywhere. When people found out that we were close and that I wasn't his girlfriend, they wedged between us and made sure I would know my place from them on. "When did you become so under spoken?" he whispered. He reached for me but I stepped away. If anyone saw something like that in the open, they'd speculate and the last thing we need is for the Lord of the Realm to have a scandal over an i***t like me. "Excuse me," I tried to run away like I always do. "Bre, what are you doing here?" we both stepped away from one another and turned to see my sister walking in our direction. "Are you here to see me off?" I hadn't seen Sasha in a few weeks. She was off on a mission and it took her a lot longer to return than it usually does. Her wings have sprouted. They're a magnificent and elegant transparent black. Although they're not very big, it doesn't take much from the grace they're starting to emit. Black wings are not common at all. There are only two elders left who have them. This is big news. It's such a big deal. Not just as a fairy but for her brand. "Sash, your wings," I almost reached for them but stopped myself. "I know. They kind of saved me a couple of days ago. I'm sorry to have been gone for so long without checking in. I was just given your term report. Congratulations, Breeze. The Imperial Fae Award. Breeze, you won the IFA. I am so proud of you," she rushed towards me, wrapping her arms around me tightly. She picked me up and spun me around for an instant. The black grace dust of her wings sparkled around us like shiny black glitter. I laughed when she put me down. "Mom and dad would be so happy to see how far you've come," "You're just saying that," I brushed her comment off. "No, I'm not," she grinned. I couldn't say if it were true or false. I don't know anything about our parents. They died when I was eight months old. "Let's have lunch. I have a couple of hours before I head over to Eldrich for my report with the elders. I should be back for dinner. Elias, would you like to join us? Did you two come together?" "What? What would make you-" "We did," he cut me off. I looked up at him stunned by his lie. She smiled brightly. "We were just talking about Lunch," "Oh," she looked between us. "I see then I wouldn't want to impose. This one is on me, Bree," she tossed me a gold coin. I caught it without thinking about it. "I'll make dinner tonight. You're also welcome to join us then, Elias," "Thank you. We'll see how things work out tonight," he smirked. Sasha bowed to him and looked over to me with an excited and deviant smile before she rushed off without letting me defend myself. "Why would you say that?" I asked angrily. I then realized what I had just said and froze. I just yelled at the Lord of the Realm. "Maybe I'm not ready to let you go," he shrugged. "Come on. You won't deny your Lord lunch company would you?" "Sir, I-" "Elias. There you are," "Lady Jo, how are you?" he asked her. Jo is the worst. She's a dark magic fairy. Her personality matches all the terrible things her kind does to the mortal realm. I stepped aside, hearing her steps coming up behind me. She didn't even spare me a glance. "I am doing spectacularly as always. I came to ask if you'd like to have lunch with me?" she's definitely his type. Stupid. "I'm afraid I have plans with Lady Breeze. Perhaps some other time," he waved her off. "Come Bre. I'm famished," "Bre?" she looked over at me with a glare. "What is the second Lady of Airstorm doing in the Elder Tower? Understudies don't have external missions," "Dark fae don't have any business here either. Princess Breeze is a friend of mine and her sister's title is more than enough to grant Breeze entry where she pleases. Speaking of understudies, how are you coming along with the wand I prepared for you?" "Wand?" I asked. Her angry amethyst eyes shot to me. Fairies who can't control their magic need wands. It's common among high-rank fairies like myself and Sasha but not fairies of her rank. Dark fairies barely have magical release abilities. To be unable to wield the amount she does is a little embarrassing. Without another word, Jo stomped off. "Bre, you shouldn't let anyone bully you. I am hungry. We should get going," Lord Elias turned his attention to me. How can I say no now? He defended me and sent Jo running with her head hanging. I nodded and followed after him. Everyone is looking at us. They bow to him formally as we walk by but their eyes stay on me, unpleasantly. It's not difficult to guess what they're thinking. What the hell is this lowly fairy doing with the Lord of the Realm? That's what I'm trying to figure out myself. Why is Elias Coventree here? Why did he say that to Sasha? Why would Sasha be okay with us going to lunch? Aren't they supposed to be getting engaged soon? Is that what this is? Is he going to be asking for her hand in marriage? I am completely unprepared for that. What if I embarrass us both? Sash would kill me if I said anything to upset him. This is going to hurt so bad. "How is the university treating you?" Lord Elias asked. Small talk? Sure, I can do that. We've done it before. "Well, actually. Since there aren't very many universal fairies, my partner and I sometimes get priority projects and those are always fun," I boasted. "Your partner?" he asked. "Yes, Falcon Malory," I confirmed. "I'm sorry, you work with Falcon Malory? The Falcon Malory who won the Nobelese Fae Tournament twice?" he asked. "The Fae of the year guy?" "Are you a fan?" I asked. "Not anymore," he scoffed, stabbing his salad with his fork. "I didn't know you had a partner. We haven't spoken in quite some time," "Yeah, you're kind of a busy guy now that you're the Lord of the Realm and Sash is Guardian. You're rarely ever on Aldrich," "I have been busy haven't I?" he sighed. "I apologize," "No, no. Don't apologize. It's part of growing up and your job is excruciatingly important. I can't wait to hear all about it when you have time," "I'm actually going to be staying here for a while. The Ministry is benching us after the whole thing with the Fire Crystal," "I read about that," I laughed. "Good job," "Thank you. I don't think I would have made it out with Sasha and Rey," he chuckled nervously. "I'm happy to be home. I know Sasha is happy to be staying here as well. We've all missed you greatly," "Okay, I was going to leave this until dinner so please don't tell her. I'm transferring to High Rise. Falcon and I were selected to oversee the progress on the system core for the birth of the new Elder Tree," "You're leaving?" he shook his. "When?" "Next week. I didn't think your last mission would take so long. Which is why I went looking for Sasha when I heard your portal had returned," I explained. This is very exciting for me. I've always wanted to work in an Elder Tree. To run it and here it is. "You're kidding," he put his fork down and sat back. He genuinely looks upset. That's not the reaction I was expecting. "I'm sorry. Did I say something to upset you?" "No, no. I know how much you've wanted to work on an Elder Tree. To be working on one that is about to sprout, to monitor it from the very beginning is a great honor. I am very proud of you, Breeze," he doesn't sound proud. "Thank you, Lord Elias. It means a lot to me to hear you say that. You've always been an amazing friend. When I heard you, Sasha and Prince Rey were going to be the new line of defense I felt better knowing that she wasn't going to be alone. You guys always look after one another," "Right, we've been friends since we were kids," he nodded. "Lady Breeze, how unexpected to see you here," Falcon came out of nowhere. I stood up a little too fast. I stumbled back, Falcon reached out to help me with a grin on his face. "Calm down, Bre. Are you okay?" "You scared me. Every time you pop out of nowhere something crazy happens," I laughed. We rolled his eyes. "Not every time," his face flushed when he glanced over at Lord Elias. "I'm sorry. How rude of me. Falcon, this is Lord Elias Coventree. Lord Elias, this is Falcon Malory," "My Lord, forgive me. I didn't realize it was you Lady Breeze was having lunch with. I'll see you tonight?" "Yes, you will," I smiled at him. "Later, Breeze," he smirked and walked away. I sat down again, looking up at Lord Elias. His eyes are dark. He looks very, very upset with me. "You're going to see him tonight?" he asked. His tone is seemingly accusatory. "What is happening?" I asked feeling the hostile aura around him. This only happens when he's beyond pissed. "Nothing," he looked down at the table. "Lunch was great, Lady Breeze. I have to go," "Lord Elias, wait," I went after him. He didn't look back at me. "Elias, I don't understand why you're so upset," I reached for his hand to stop him. "Stop," He abruptly turned around to look at me. His eyes are officially pitch black now. The anger on his face was more than enough persuasion for me to let go of him. Without saying a word he left me standing here with no explanation. I looked around to see everyone looking at me. I went back to the table unsure of what to do. Falcon came back over to me with worry written all over his face. "I messed up didn't I?" he asked. "No, I- I'm not exactly sure what just happened. I thought he was going to ask for Sasha's hand," I admitted. "What?" he laughed. "Sasha? Breeze, he reacted like a jealous boyfriend," "What?" I shook my head. "Lord Elias?" "Yeah, Breeze. Pay and go after him you nervous spaz," he called for a waiter. "You know what? I'll pay. Get the hell out of here,"
