The moment I stepped through the grand doorway of the Stone Pack mansion, I could feel Jane. Her scent lingered near the hall, a mixture of her preferred expensive perfume and something sharper—envy, perhaps.
She didn’t make me wait long. Just as I turned the corner toward the main hall, she appeared, her heels clicking confidently against the polished marble floor. She blocked my path with a practiced smile plastered across her face.
“Cassandra,” she chirped, her tone syrupy. “I heard about your healing assessment score. Twenty points, was it?”
Her emerald eyes sparkled with something between amusement and condescension, though her wolf couldn’t entirely mask the glee that radiated from her.
