Maya’s POV
I stood at the balcony door with my hand on the lock. Liam waited outside in the dark. His face looked serious under the moonlight. My heart beat very fast. If I let him in now I might tell him everything. But the blackmailers were watching. One wrong move and they would destroy me.
“Maya please,” Liam said softly. “Open the door. I cannot watch you suffer alone anymore.”
I took a deep breath and unlocked it. He stepped inside quickly and closed the door behind him. Cool night air followed him in. He looked at my face and saw the tears.
“You are breaking,” he whispered. “Tell me what is happening. All of it.”
I sat on my bed. My legs felt too weak to stand. Liam sat beside me. He held my hand gently. His touch felt warm and safe. I should not do this. They will hurt him too
