“Luke, it’s time you find your mate. You are 19 soon, and the Alpha of our pack” Kyle said to me for the fifth time this week. I knew my Beta was right, and because of this I was throwing a party inviting all the packs. We had been at war with one of them a few years ago, and I didn’t expect them to come, but I had invited their Alpha for meeting a few days before.
We needed a new peace treaty after my father broke the last one. We were the largest pack, yet I didn’t want to rule like my father. We needed to all come together against the hunters and humans that threaten our existence.
“Kyle, I know I just… The party will take all the ladies here, and for your information I did also invite the Alpha of Silver Moon.” I said looking throw all the papers that were supposed to be read and signed for transport, as well as everything that went into the party.
“We need a Luna, to take care of the look of the pack, and if you are not willing to take whoever we might need to travel abroad to find your mate” Kyle kept on going. Of course, it sounded ridiculous that the Moon Goddess was going to make my mate be in some different country than me and I was damned if it was true. Maybe my pack seemed like the cruelest of them all, but I also had standards. I couldn’t take someone away from the family they grew up with.
“You’re right. I will find a Luna at the party. With or without the blessing of the Moon Goddess” I agreed. I had to put my pack ahead of myself. Even without the blessing of the Goddess I would be stronger I couldn’t deny that.

I couldn’t believe it. The alpha who got my brother killed had invited my pack to a party celebrating his 19th birthday. Was he dumb or something? No one would ever consider going near them after what they did to Silas. I was fuming when I got the notice from Dark Moon. Of course, I wouldn’t deny my pack members a party. Especially when I received word that he wanted to draw up a new peace treaty. We had been at war for so long, and it wasn’t yesterday he became Alpha.
“Adam, can you find my mother? And do let the others know about this party” I commanded, rage visible on my face. I was never good at hiding when I was angry. My red fiery hair always seemed to get a little redder along with my face.
“Yes, Alpha” he simply replied. He hadn’t been my first choice for Beta, but I wanted something of my brothers to be with me. Of course, Adam was also my friend and with everything changing I didn’t need the pack to be rushed into too many changes at once.
I turned around in my chair and looked up at the picture I had of my brother. His fiery red hair, his big smile and his crystal blue eyes. We looked like each other in so many ways, except our eyes. While his was as light blue as water, mine was as dark blue as the midnight sky. At least most of the time.
A knock came to the door announcing my mother coming in. I turned around getting up from the chair to greet her. I didn’t always agree with her in ways I should be dealing with things, but she was previous Luna of the pack, and she had some experience as my father talked with her about everything.
“Alpha” She simply said and nodded her head. I tried to smile at her seeing as this wasn’t her fault or that I had any reason to be mad at her.
“Mother we have a problem. Alpha Adalwolf has invited the whole pack to his birthday party. I expect it to be a plot to find his mate, and I will be damned if he finds her among my pack members” I finished of letting my mother know my thoughts.
“Soph, sweetheart you sure you want to keep your pack from this? What if he finds his mate here? Don’t you want that person to be happy?” Olivia, her mother questioned. I knew she was right, and I didn’t want to hurt my own pack either.
“I am going to allow anyone who wants to join go. I don’t expect a lot will after what happened to my brother” I started out walking around the table to my mother. “I don’t want my pack to hate me for being strict”
For the first time in a while think I saw pride in her eyes, yet I wasn’t too sure, and I was not going to test it too much yet.
“I will also need some of my strongest worriers to come with me. We are to draw up a new contract “, I continued softly, although rage might have been shooting from my eyes. “What he doesn’t know is that I am going to snap his neck for what he did to my brother. I need to prove that no one can mess around with me” finally my mother looked at me in the eyes and maybe it was terror or pride I felt coming from her, but her words didn’t exactly fit the smell that surrounded her. It smelled like rage. Like she could only agree.
“I will follow you in this plan my dear” her words came out and this could only be the right thing to do.
