Britten Mate

  I watch as Lucifer is talking to the white witch. I try not to listen to what they are saying, but I can't help it. My hearing is so attuned to all the noises around me. He will have special abilities. I'm not sure what they will be, but I can see he is going to be unstoppable. “ See, even the witch knows we are going to be great”. Storm, I don't get it. My mother never told me she could see the future or read minds. Why me? Why am I the one that gets all four elements? I shake my head and started to walk further away so i can try to think about how I am going to turn back. Is this like being a merman all i have to do is think about my legs and they are there. “ Think about what you want to be. If you want to be a merman you will, if you want to be a wolf you will if you want to be a man you will become one just think about yourself and that is what you become”. I walk to the stream and look in the water. It's crystal clear and I can see my reflection. I just stare because my father is right. I am solid black and as big as a mountain. 

   “Britten son, are you ready to turn back i can walk you through the process. It may be painful again, son but once you turn a few times, it will become easy” I turn my body and face the alpha. I think about myself as a man. I imagine what I look like down to my toes. The next thing I know, I am standing there butt naked in  my birthday suite.  I watched the expression on the alpha's face. “ What just happened? How did you do that son,” 

  I'm not sure. Storm said all I had to do was think about what I wanted to be and that it would be,  so i tried it. There was no pain this time. There was only black smoke for a few seconds and poof here i am is that not normal. “ Son, who is  Storm?” he shakes his head as he is laughing. I dont get the humor. “ It's normal, I have just never seen it done that fast “ Again Son who is Storm?” Storm is my wolf spirit. He said he was an old soul.  And is he talking to you? Can you hear him? Yes, as soon as I turned he was there in my head, it was kind of odd, to say the least, to hear someone else's voice talking to you. Alpha, do you not have a wolf spirit? “ I do but he does not talk to me. I can feel him guiding me, that is all”. I shake my head and once again I am at a loss for words. I look around and i notice that even though i am not a wolf anymore, my vision  is sharper. I can hear everything for miles. “ Focus on your father, try to really listen to not what he is saying but what he is thinking”. How am I going to explain this to Luna? Alpha, what do you need to explain to Luna? He looks at me and shakes his head. Did I say that out loud, son?  No sir, I can hear your thoughts. They are kind of loud. 

       He, once again, is just staring at me and I focus on him singing in his head. lol  what is that song you are singing?  He just shakes his head and laughs, boy! This is going to be fun. You can not listen to others' thoughts without them giving you  permission. That's an invasion of privacy, do you understand? Yes, I understand. Let's get you some clothes on and we are going back to the pack house. I think it is time you met everyone. I walk to the house and he hands me shorts and a tee shirt and flip flops, he calls them. They feel so funny on my feet. “ Alright let's go”. I started to follow him as he is walking to a large object. He opens it and gets in. I'm lost for words so I stood there. He opens it back up and says, son it's a truck. We drive them on the land like the sharks you ride in the ocean. I laugh. There is so much I am not sure of on land. 

    I get in the truck and we start to go backwards. He has songs coming through the truck. It's not bad.  What is this music playing? This is country music. I just sat there and listened, it was very sad. Someone's dog gets shot and his wife leaves him. Why would anyone want to think about stuff that makes them sad?  I just sit in silence and we drive for what feels like forever. I am about to ask when we will be there when we pull up to a large house about three stories high and there are people running around everywhere. We come to a stop and he jumps out of the truck. The scream i hear almost breaks my ear drums. It is a heart-ripping scream that hurts me. I held my head. I can not  see straight. Please make it stop. I can not take the pain. I have never felt pain like this before. Why does it hurt so badly? The door to the truck is being opened. Can you hear me? Are you OK? The pain stops and the noise stops. What was that? I'm not sure but we are going to find out. Come, let's go inside and see what all this is about. I follow behind everyone who is staring at me, so I raise  my chin and take away all emotion like I was taught. 

   Someone had better start talking now. Honey, you are home. A small woman with brown hair and brown eyes came through the room. She is very pretty and holds herself well. Luna, I need answers to what is going on. What was that scream? Why do I feel pain? I did not realize I had said the words out loud until he turned around and looked at me. “ Pain, what do you mean?” When we arrived, there was a pain in my head like someone was being ripped into. Lucifer, can i ask who this young man is and why on god green earth are you calling him son? Luna, this is Britten Black, my son from my true mate. I can see the look on her face. She is pissed and can not hold back her anger much longer.  So I listen when I know I should not. He has got to be joking about bringing that boy into my home from his w***e. As i hear the words she is thinking, I watch as she changes her whole face and says Welcome Britten. It is so nice to meet you. I have heard about you for a while now with a fake smile that does not reach her eyes. 

   It's a pleasure to meet you too.  Now can someone tell me what is going on? Awe honey, it's just I can not find the words to say. About that time, a young man walked out of the hallway. He looked broken. His eyes are red and puffy. You can tell he has been crying and he almost seems lost and broken. Riddick, son, are you okay? What is wrong? Dad is that you? I watch as he runs to Lucifer and throws his arms around him and just falls. He is crying so hard  he cant catch his breath. What could have happened to cause this young man so much pain? Dad, I found my mate. Son, that is amazing news. So, why are you upset? I rejected her dad. I rejected her. What do you mean Riddick? Why would you reject what the moon goddess  gave you? I didn't know dad. I was so happy, I felt so complete. I can't remember anything. I remember mom coming to my door saying she needed to talk to me and then all i remember is Embry Scream and her on the floor. I don't remember anything else.  I don't know why I would reject her. She was perfect dad. I already loved her, my heart was hers. I just stared at the young man. There is something off and I can't put my finger on it. Alpha, he has  red rings around him. Everyone stops and turns. They had forgotten I was there. Britten, what do you mean? Can you not see Alpha?  Can you not smell it? There is magic still in the air. 

    “ Who are you”. My name is Britten Black. Riddick just stares at me and is still in shock. Black, your last name is black and you have my father's middle name. Yes, I do believe so. “ Who are you?” I do believe i am your brother. Dad, what is he talking about? Son this is your brother. He is my son  from my true mate Claire.  I watch as Riddick's face goes completely blank. He is lost, he is scared, he is confused. I am not sure why I can feel all of these emotions. Dad why was I never told I had a brother? Mom did you know about this? Yes, I was aware, but i was told it would never be an issue. That it was impossible to remove him from his mother that vanished into thin air. My mom is in danger. She didn't have a choice but to send me to train and learn from Lucifer. It was not my choice to come either. I did not know who my father was till yesterday on my 18th birthday. “ so your birthday was yesterday.”  Yes Luna may i call you Luna? You may call me Luna, that is fine. Riddick turns and looks at his father, so he is three days older than me? Yes, Son, he is the oldest of you two. That's just great. I can see the sadness going away and it is being replaced with anger now. 

     I'm not sure why he is upset that I am older than him. It doesn't quite make sense. Can I ask why you are angry that I am older than you? He doesn't know dad. How can he not know if he is a wolf? How does he not know the laws of our world? I was not raised around wolves. I do not know your laws. I just turned for the first time yesterday into my wolf. Riddick just shakes his head he is still upset. This is just f*****g great. Lucifer is talking to him now. Son he may not know the laws but you do it is his birthright. Luna screams, you have got to be joking, Lucifer, this can not be happening. Do not raise your voice to me. I do not make the laws of or land Woman. I can feel the pain again. It's coming in waves to me and it brings me to my knees again. Britten, are you ok? The pain is back like my soul is shredding. It must be Embry you are feeling but why are you feeling her pain? Call the counsel. We need to know what they know to get them here as fast as possible. Can you take me to this Embry? Can I see her? No, I hear Riddick screaming, you will not go near my mate. 

  Yes Britten you can see her, I hear Alpha speak. Dad, I don't want anyone near my mate. Son she is not your mate anymore you rejected her. I don't remember  why can't i remember . I don't know why I am asking to see her but i feel like i can help her i am being pulled to her by her pain all i want to do is take the pain away. Can he do that dad can he take her pain away? I'm not sure what he can do but I want to know where the girl is. We took her to the clinic alpha for Doc to look at her. She passed out after the rejection and has not woken up yet. I turn to see who is talking. It is Autumn. The white witch “thank you Spring”. Wait what do I hear myself say i thought your name was Autumn? That is my twin sister. Have you met her? How do you know who my sister is a young wolf?

     We do not have time for this, so the Alpha  says let's get to the clinic. I start to follow behind Alpha and Luna. I see Riddick ahead of them. The witch is walking beside me. She is looking for something. I'm not sure what I feel when someone is trying to enter my thoughts. I turn to her and shake my finger at her. She looks confused as to what i am saying so i send the thought straight to her mind. Spring it is  rude. I am told to try to read someone's thoughts without asking first. The look of shock on her face is very clear to say the least. “ You are correct young wolf . I apologize”.   We keep walking and she is still staring at me as we walk so i send her another message. Is there a reason you were trying to read my thoughts? I was only trying to learn more about the Alphas new son. I try to let it go but this witch just feels off Autumn has a bright glow, hers is very dim, almost dark. We made it to the Clinic as we neared the most amazing smell coming through the door. It has my mouth watering. It smells like a summer rain on the breeze. I have never smelled anything so wonderful it has a hint of something sweet I can't put a word to. Son, are you ok? I smell the most amazing smell. Does the clinic always smell like this.? Smell like Britten. All I can smell are chemicals. Like fresh Rain and something sweet. I don't know what it is but it is well. I can't seem to find the words and I've never had a smell affect me so much.

  I hear someone laughing as the doors are pushed open . Well son since your the only one that can smell it i am to only assume you are smelling your mate. My mate what do you mean Alpha? A mate is someone made just for you, the moon goodness made her for you and you alone. That is why you can smell her “ Doc are you in here” Alpha i am here doc can you tell me where Embry is? Yes, Alpha. She is in room two but we are having trouble getting her stable i have never seen anything like it alpha i was told she was rejected. I have never seen a rejection take its toll on someone like this. Come Doc takes us to young Embry so I can try to help her. Also, are there any other patients in the clinic today? “ No Alpha, she is the only one” I hear growling as I turn to see Riddick face . He will go no were near my mate. He is screaming at the top of his lungs. Doc come quickly, a young man is running towards us, she is crashing. I see the Doctor take off running down the hall I start to follow. I can hear the Alpha still arguing with Luna and Riddick as i follow the young doctor. I walk in the room where they are and there is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. She is laying in a bed with monitors hooked to her everywhere. They are shocking her. I don't know why. She is calling to me as I walk past the Doctor he is talking to me but i can not hear what he is saying all i can feel is the pull. 

  I walk up to the bed and just stare. I don't know why but i have the urge to take her hand in mine so i just laced her fingers through mine and i feel like lighting is shooting up my arms it feels amazing. “ She is stable. What happened?” I can hear them talking. I think it's his touch. I think he is comforting her. His touch is helping her. About that time, Alpha and Riddick walk in the room. Do not touch what is mine. Alpha, she was crashing before he started holding her hand. I'm not sure but his touch is healing her. I can hear what they are saying but I can't look away. All I can do is look at her. She is so beautiful she has such a bright light around her. Son you need to realize can't you see that he is helping her listen to what the Doctor is saying. 

He then turns to me Britten, Can you hear me i shake my head cause that is all that i can do. Britten is this the smell you were smelling. I just shake my head. Yes i cant speak i can't look away. Dad this is crazy, she is mine. 

     Son im not sure what is going on but as long as he is helping heal her he stays right where he is and son you need to remember she is not your mate anymore you rejected her. I don't remember. I don't remember anything but her. I can feel her heartbeat. She is starting to heal, her light is getting brighter. I can't look away. I have never seen anything so beautiful in my life. I have never felt anything this amazing. If this is what a mate is, I will never let her go.  She is like a beacon in the dark seas. Britten can you feel anything from her? Is she going to be ok? She is Alpha. She is getting stronger but she is not ready to come back yet she is how do you say it's broken. I take a deep breath and take a seat. My hand never leaves hers. I don't think that I could bear to remove her touch. Dad, I don't get it are you thinking he is her mate cause he is not? I am her mate. You rejected her. I have heard of second chance mates but I have not heard of one being seen  in hundreds of years.  If he is her mate you will let them be Riddick. Do you hear me? It will be her choice. There is no choice, I am her mate she is mine. I can hear all the fighting and I know what is going on but I still don't move. All I can think is I would die for her, I will fight for her and yes i will kill for her and i have never even heard her speak. But she is mine.
