Eva awakened in a state of drenched perspiration, hastily freeing herself from the quilt that had become entangled around her legs. Feeling disoriented, she surveyed her surroundings, seeking reassurance that she was no longer trapped within a dream. "Where is my phone?" she questioned, glancing from her bed to the bedside table. Carelessly discarding the blankets, she reached for her pillow, and there it was—her phone, lying patiently. Without hesitation, she unlocked the device and swiped to open her calendar. The date revealed itself as Thursday, September Sixteenth, two thousand and twenty-one. Eva took a deep breath and closed her eyes, consumed by deep regret she signed heartily. The first rays of sunrise filtered through the small gap in her curtain, signaling the start of a new day. It was time for her to prepare for the day ahead. As she stood under the hot shower, the steam enveloped the bathroom, causing the shower tiles to blur. Her dream lingered in her mind, feeling incredibly vivid and realistic. Initially, it had been unsettling, but she found herself cherishing every moment of it. However, she couldn't shake off her concern about the mysterious voice that had spoken to her within the dream. Today, marked the beginning of the three days feast between the extended family. All the maids and stewards had their hands full. Eva and Ray were assigned to the wine selar. They were to sort out the oldest of the wine dust them out and arrange them until orders were give would they bring them out for the feast. This time of the season has been Ray's favourite time, she loved the music and abundance of food most importantly the Master's Son Raymond. As long as she can remember she has had a crush on him from the moment she set eyes on him. Many other had eyes on him, but she did not care for that, she would day dream about them being a match since the both had similar name. She had tried several times to seduce him, but he paid no attention, maybe it's because there were to many people around him. There was a rumor circulating that he might remain for some time after the feast, though she couldn't be certain of its veracity. Nevertheless, she held onto the hope that it was true. Perhaps, amid all the commotion, he would notice her presence. With this anticipation, she carefully selected the most appropriate maid's uniform, reserving it specifically for the events that would follow the feast. "Ray, where has your mind been. We have to get to work now" Eva complained. "Oh god, my mind has been busy of late" "Busy, why?" " Raymond would come in from the city today for the feast, I can't wait to see him. Ray blushed as she dusted down the wine with her hand. Eva, looked at her in dismay, Ray looked like she was out of it the way she spoke. she mist be really excited, seeing the there is hardly any man in this little country side. Dashville is know for it's lack of men. For a minute she looked at Ray, she smiled forlornly at whatever thought she was having. Eva noticed her breast looking fuller in her dress. 'She must have padded up'. Eva thought to herself ' is that how much she's desperate hmm' " Who is Raymond" Eva asked "My soulmate" Ray chuckled "Really his Donald's son, only son." "Isnt that a risk?" "What is a risk? Ray questioned confused . " Crushing on the only son" "Yeah I have thought about it, but who knows what can happen." Mr Ben called out to a junior steward, "Prepare the maids and other stewards for the arrival of Mr Raymond. He's about 20 mintues away" "Yes Sir " He replied as He went away. Everyone was nervous for His coming. Eva spent hours while cleaning and arranging the wine in the selar, what Raymond would look like. He seemed to be the highlight of every maids day. When she went into the kitchen to get a drink of water she also heard two other maids chat about him. They all just set themselves up for disappointment, cause they were many of them who crushed on him. It made her anxious to see him. "Excuse me ladies" the junior steward spoke to Eva and Ray from the entrance door of the selar "be at the foyer in ten minutes we will wait for the arrival of Mr Raymond". "Alright got that " Ray replied trying so hard to conceal her excitement. Eva secretly rolled her eyes at this point she thought Ray to be silly. Finally, she would see the man that every maid curshed on. "When he the car pulls up we are all to courtesy, until he gets into the house, do you all understand ?" Mr Ben instructed. "Yes Sir" the all chorus. "Who courtesy nowadays, its ridiculous" Eva thought to herself. Raymond pulled up in the drive way seeing all the maids and stewards, his father life style still made him laugh. Who still does this in today's world. "Your welcome" Mr Ben opened the door as Raymond got down from the Mercedes. He walked past the staffs his head upright. Eva tried so hard to maintain a bowed head, but still rose her head a little to her a view of him. "Oh my God" she muttered. immediately covering her mouth in shame. "Is there anything wrong miss " Raymond question as he looked at her. slowly Eva raised her head, her face reddened with embarrassment. She couldn't speak as her eyes beheld a man who seem to be a perfect sculpt of zeus. "No I'm fine" she said immediately bowing her head down. It was just few seconds her eyes beheld him but his striking eyebrows which sits atop his serene eyes felt like it pierced into her soul. Now she knew why the maids where head heels over him. She had not realized she was holding her breath. Mr Ben flashed her an eye of warning as the all disperse to there various work. Everyone murmured about her, she felt so stupid. She made a fool of herself, now she would she seem desperate too. But she should swear she had feelings for him already. maybe it would go away. It is only just an infatuation. "I told you his so handsome, Oh my god, it feels like heaven seeing him" .Ray ranted to Eva without even realizing she spoke then whole time as they set out the sorted wine. "Eva" Mr Ben called " follow me". Eva quickly walked up to Mr Ben's side apologizing as soon as she met up to him. " I don't need your apologies, I am not surprised as you girls can't hold yourselves in the presence of a fine man" he blurted out rudely. Eva c****d her head slightly in shame . "Well, you will be handling the maintenance of Mr Raymond's room. "Oh no Sir" "It is not an Option, Mr Raymond demands that you should. I will let you know when you are needed there. Now hurry and refreshing yourself you smell of dust. Eva gazed at her unclothed reflection in the bathroom mirror, contemplating whether her face matched her body. As her fingers traced the scar left by her appendectomy, she felt a strong distaste for the scars on her body. Despite her beautifully shaped figure, she carried reminders of her surgery and the burn on her back from a fall down a hill when she was just twelve years old. In that painful memory, she had gone hiking with friends who turned out not to be true friends at all. They had tricked her, daring her to run down the hill, fully aware that she would likely fall. Obliging their demand in an attempt to please them, she tumbled and slid down the slope, leaving her left lower back burned from the friction. The situation worsened as she realized they had laughed at her and left her stranded, on her own to find her way back home. Eva swiftly wrapped her towel around her chest upon hearing the bathroom door creak open. Without hesitation, she promptly entered the shower. Preparing for her routine. Eva neatly gathered her hair into her customary ponytail. Ray knocked on Eva's door, prompting her to quickly fasten her waist apron, assuming that she was calling her because Mr Ben needed her assistance. To her surprise, upon opening the door, she discovered Ray with a face marked by tear stains her devastated expression perplexed her. "How did he choose you to maintain his room?" Ray exclaimed, her voice filled with anguish. "Oh, Eva, I wish it were me," she declared before storming out of the room. Eva, clearly bewildered and lost in her thoughts, shook her head in disbelief. "This is insane," she murmured to herself. Raymond made his way to his father's room, filled with deep love for him. He also grieved alongside him since his mother's predicament. It pained him to witness his father in this state. Donald, overcome by exhaustion, had fallen asleep on the chair next to his wife's long-lasting slumber. She appeared just as she did when she first entered her coma, only noticeably thinner. "Father," Raymond called out gently, rousing Donald from his slumber. "Hmm, you're here, my son," Donald groggily responded. Clearing his throat, he continued, "I thought you would arrive later in the evening." "Yes, but I decided to come and spend the day with you before the distractions of the feast," Raymond replied, offering a warm smile to his father. Pulling up a chair alongside his father, he looked from him to his mother, quietly contemplating the weight of the moment. Donald reached out his hands, seeking to hold the hand of his son. "How has life been in the bustling city?" he asked, a mix of curiosity and concern evident in his voice. "Some days are enjoyable, while other days can be quite distracting. But work helps to minimize the distractions," Raymond replied, responding to his father's question before posing one of his own. "Have you hired more employees?" Donald inquired, his curiosity peaking. "Yes, I have," Raymond confirmed. "But why? When I last visited, the existing staff managed things well," Donald observed. "I understand, son, but you see, I had a dream once – I saw my wife..." Raymond's sentence was interrupted abruptly by his father, who appeared deeply disturbed. "Father," Raymond interjected swiftly, a hint of concern in his tone. "No, it's true. It was not a mere product of my imagination. She visited me in a dream..." Donald's voice trailed off, his distress evident as he continued, "She informed me that someone would find a way to set her free, and I truly believe it. I really do." Donald gazed emptily into the distance, lost in his thoughts. "But how is employing more staff going to help" "I really don't know, I just felt the needed too". Despite remaining resilient during this challenging period, Raymond detested when his father spoke in such a manner. It fueled a glimmer of hope within him, but at the same time, he feared embracing that hope. What if she never returned to life? With these thoughts echoing in his mind, he returned to his room. Unbuttoning his shirt, he called for Mr. Ben to bring in the maid he had requested. Eva rapped on the door, nervously awaiting a response. However, no answer came. Knocking again, she swayed slightly while waiting for permission to enter, only to be taken aback when the door unexpectedly swung open without her realizing. Standing before her, she gazed up at his towering figure, her own height barely reaching five feet one. Startled, her eyes involuntarily drifted towards his exposed chest. "Did he summon her here to seduce her ?" she silently pondered as she stood timid before him. "Come in Miss?" "Eva...Miss Eva" "Please sit " She looked at him confused, wasn't she supposed to work. Hesitantly she walked into the room enough just so her would stop holding the door open for her but she wou She gazed at him with confusion, unsure of what to do in this situation. Hesitantly, she stepped into the room, moving just enough to signal him to release the door, yet choosing not to sit down. "Alright it seems like you don't trust me at all " "No I do" "Then you would have to look at me confidently, I don't need you to bow." A wave of shame washed over Eva, causing her face to flush with embarrassment. She fought back tears, determined to maintain her composure. "Why am I crying? I am stronger than this. Pull yourself together, Eva," she sternly admonished herself. However, her emotions continued to rebel against her will, and she struggled to restrain the welling tears. Hastily, she brushed away the warm tears from her cheeks, feeling a profound sense of humiliation. Engulfed in a moment of rapid contemplation, she quickly began to dusty the curtain as though there was alot of dust on it. "I didn't ask you to dust the curtain" "Certainly not, but I see no reason to sit, as I am employed to clean. She faked her confidence in her response. Raymomd could see right through her fake confidence, and her admired her.
