The door opened to reveal a basic but comfortable cell, illuminated by two large round windows, one in the ceiling and another directly below it in the centre of the floor. Books lined the walls of the circular room, although there was no musty odour. A crib sat on one side of the room, sheets folded crisply on top, pillows fully plumped, with a chest of drawers lacking in ornamentation at its base. A pair of curved sofas flanked the floor window, with a worn wooden desk at one end, completing a horseshoe shape. On the desk sat a blotter, reading glasses, a collection of folders, books and notes and a leather desk tidy holding various writing implements.
