“We had an accident,” Drakulya announced. A collective gasp filled the hall. Lenore pulled in a huge breath and seemed to hold it, her eyes glittering, darting back and forth from Drakulya to Gwendolyn, as if trying to discern who looked angrier at the upset. “What happened? Pray tell us!” Rath's booming voice silenced the hall. The music ebbed to a dead stop. Everyone poised on what Drakulya would say next. He looked ready to burst, and I found myself glad to be out of his reach.
