IT’S A DATE, by Hal Charles Sammy Alcott’s eyes wandered around the musty room he hadn’t been in for over a decade. As he surveyed the tables and shelves filled with pictures and objects from exotic places around the world, he couldn’t help thinking of the man responsible for the collection. Major Jonathan Alcott, USMC retired, had spent a career travelling the globe enjoying adventures and gathering artifacts. Sammy recalled the twinkle in his uncle’s eye as he recounted snorkeling off the Greek islands or scaling a snow-covered peak in the Alps to his wide-eyed nephew.
