Lacey and Jake pulled up in Martha’s driveway and barely missed what looked like a sideways triangle made of wood lying in front of the garage. “I guess that’s not a good idea,” Lacey said, putting the car in reverse. Jake, who had been pretty quiet up to this point, picked his head up and saw immediately what she was talking about. “Yeah, don’t run into that.” “So what is ‘that’?” “It’s our skateboard ramp; at least it will be when it’s done.” “Well, that sounds pretty cool, but right now can you help me bring some of this stuff in?” Between the two of them, they managed to carry Lacey’s two portable scrapbook organizers, her overnight bag, and Jake’s skateboard and overnight bag up the walkway to the front door.
