Lacey had been leaning on the counter and now stood up straight. “Stay the night where?” “I don’t know. I think he said here but you’ll have to ask him. He said for you to call him when you got a chance.” They both heard the sound of a motorcycle coming closer and closer, and then it stopped. Lacey rolled her eyes. “I guess we’ll finish talking about this later.” “Okay.” Jake turned and walked out the front door to go and greet Daryk. Lacey leaned into the counter and stared down, suddenly a bit anxious, uncomfortable in her own skin. The grout on her tile counters seemed to shout for a cleaning so she pulled out her Clorox cleaner and a toothbrush and began the mindless task of cleaning.
