Damon POV
"Alpha, we have a situation at the eastern border" my beta, Grady, announced over the mind link.
"Be right there" I responded while pushing back from my desk.
I glanced at the clock. Almost midnight. I hadn't realized it was so late. I meant to quit for the night and head to bed. Now I'm glad I hadn't since I would had been awaken anyways.
I made my way outside, jumped into the nearest UTV and headed down the trail that leads to the eastern border.
I pulled over about a mile away and continued walking, as to not make any noise.
I spotted my beta and a few of my warriors watching something in the distance.
As I grew closer, a smell hit my noise that made my wolf stir. Something sweet and.... delicious....my wolf growled softly.
"Alpha, I was alerted to a commotion at the border, when I arrived I saw this woman in distress. She appeared lost but then she fell over in pain. Her scent appears to be a wolf but I can't pick up anything else and it is very faint." Beta Grady quickly debriefed me.
I looked in the direction he motioned to and that's when the smell hit me even harder.
It was so intense, it made my mouth water.
My wolf, now fully alert, growled out "Mine"
Beta Grady and my warriors all snapped their heads in my direction.
I paid them no attention.
I slowly approached the girl. As I got closer I realized she was unconscious, but she didn't seem to be harmed. I lightly touched the side of her neck, which sent sparks into my fingers and up my arm.
She had a pulse. She must have just passed out.
I carefully lifted her from the ground and held her close. I walked back toward my men, who just stared in shock.
"Grady, call the doctor. Have her meet us at the pack house immediately."
He nodded in response.
I walked back to the UTV and climbed into the drivers seat, carefully tucking her in on my lap.
I held her close as I drove back toward the house.
I glanced down at her face.
She's beautiful.
I have no idea who she was or where she came from. But I do know, she is mine.
As soon as I got her inside and carefully laid her on my bed, Grady walked in with Doctor Martha Crawford.
Dr. Crawford is our head pack doctor and her father was the head doctor before her. She is one of the most respected and best doctors around. Other packs will sometimes request her assistance with severe or unusual cases.
"Doctor Crawford," I greeted "I assume my Beta filled you in on the situation"
"He did, don't worry Alpha Blackwell, your mate is in good hands" she responded.
I gave her a grateful nod and stepped back allowing her to begin her exam.
Ashton POV
My body felt heavy and weak. I tried to move my arms and legs but could only manage a small wiggle. I felt something soft.
Blankets..... a bed......?
I heard voices. Males voices and at least one female, but I couldn't make out what they were saying.
Was I in a hospital? Did Sean bring me here?
I tried to open my eyes, my vision still blurry.
I blinked a few more times letting my surroundings come into focus.
Definitely not a hospital.
Sudden panic hit me and I tried to sit up.
I felt a pair of strong hands grab my shoulders.
"Please don't panic, you're safe here" came a deep, soothing voice.
I glanced up to see the most beautiful blue eyes I've ever seen.
