Chapter 16

Damon POV

I enjoyed the ways she looked at me, it told me she was feeling the effects of our bond.

"Where do we start?" said Ashton

With a smirk, I held out my hand. She hesitated for a moment but then lightly set her hand in mine. Her touch sending shivers up my arm. I led her a little deeper into the woods. Just enough to quiet the noise from the pack house.

Once we reached a clearing, I turned to Ashton. "We need to push the limits of your senses. We will see how close to the surface your wolf is."

"Stand here, eyes closed," I continued.

She stared at me for a moment, obviously uneasy.

"Do you trust me?" I asked her.

Ashton POV

I opened my mouth to speak but then closed it and looked directly into his eyes. He never broke eye contact and I felt my body relax.

"Yeah, I do trust you" I said surprising myself.

With a small smile, "close your eyes" Damon said once again.

I did as he said.

"Now you need to focus, tell me what you hear" he instructed.

I paused and listened for a moment.

Birds, faint noise from the pack house in the distance, maybe some leaves rustling.

I opened my eyes as I told him what I heard.

"Deeper," he instructed "you're only using your human senses."

How am I supposed to listen deeper?

I closed my eyes once more and listened. I heard no difference.

I opened my eyes, sighing in frustration.

Damon made his way over to me and simply said "relax".

He stood behind me, resting one hand on each of my shoulders. He then stepped so close to me I could feel the warmth of his chest on my back. My entire body shivered.

He leaned in and whispered in my ear "close your eyes once more and really listen".

I closed my eyes and tried to focus.

Suddenly, I heard water, moving water. A stream perhaps.

"I hear water, maybe a stream or creek." I said out loud.

I felt Damon smile against my head.

"And wind." I opened my eyes and turned to look at him. "I feel like I could hear the wind move through the trees."

Damon smiled again "Now, I want you to look deep into the woods, tell me what you see"

At first glance, it was so dark I could barely make out anything. When I looked harder I noticed glistening in the distance. I focused and saw sun reflecting off of water.

"I see a pond and the sun reflecting off the water" I said in amazement.

I felt Damon's body move a little closer "now, what do you feel?" He whispered. His deep voice paired with his touch covered my body in goosebumps.

Every time he touches me I get tingling sensations where his touch was. His question made me realize, I've never felt sensations like that before.

I turned toward him "those feelings that I get when you touch me, that is because I have a wolf?" I asked him directly.

He reached up and lightly tucked my hair behind my ear sending shivers through my body and in between my legs. "That is because I'm your mate" he stated.

I found myself wanting more. I wanted to touch him, to taste him.

He must have known what I was thinking because he reached up, lightly grabbing my chin forcing me to look him directly in the eyes. He hesitated, watching me, waiting for permission. I held his gaze, not moving.

Without any further hesitation he closed the gap pressing his lips against mine.

He kissed me softly at first, his hunger growing. He wrapped one arm around my waist pulling me close to him, his other hand gentled placed behind my head guiding me to him.

I moaned slightly as his tongue brushed against my lips, asking for permission.

I obliged, his tongue meeting mine sending another wave of chills through my body and settling between my legs. I could feel the wetness forming in my panties.

I have never been kissed like this before.

And I never want it to stop.
