The drive back to Winter Moon felt like moving through a dream. Slow, warm, unreal. A week in the hospital had been long enough for the pack house to feel foreign, and yet, as the gates opened and the familiar snow–dusted roofs appeared, Ace’s eyes filled with tears. Kai noticed immediately. He reached for her knee, giving it a soft squeeze. “We’re home.” Ace nodded, unable to speak.
