Chapter 1: Balikbayan

Luis, a Filipino-American student, visiting his grandfather when he finds an old amulet in the attic. As soon as he touches it, he's transported to a strange world surrounded by dense forests and unfamiliar creatures. Confused and disoriented, Luis is approached by a small tarsier named Tito who explains that he's in a realm inspired by Filipino folklore and mythology.

Tito offers to guide Luis through this new world and help him find his way back home. Despite his initial reluctance, Luis agrees, realizing he has no other choice. Together, they embark on a journey through the magical world of the Philippines, encountering various creatures and learning about the unique cultures and traditions of different ethnic groups.

As they delve deeper into the forest, Luis discovers he has been granted incredible powers as a babaylan, a shamaness of the ancient Tagalog people. With Tito by his side, Luis sets out to explore this new world and uncover the mysteries that await him.

Throughout their adventure, they encounter new challenges and obstacles, but Luis's newfound powers help them overcome each hurdle. As he learns more about the world he's in, Luis begins to understand the importance of tradition and the significance of his culture. The journey also allows him to gain a deeper appreciation of his Filipino heritage and a newfound sense of belonging.
