Chapter 8

800 Words
When Cora and Leo arrived at the pack hospital, William and Olivia were by Aiden's bedside. "Are you okay, Aiden? What happened? Who did this? Just tell me, I'll have them taken care of." "Olivia, honey, calm down. He can't answer if you don't give him time." "It's okay, Dad. You know how much a worry wort Momma is," Aiden responded. "The doctor said that I'm lucky to be alive. Ally missed my heart, but she got an artery, which means I could have bled out if it weren't for Cora's quick thinking and my Mate ensuring that I made it here." Aiden looked at Mia and smiled. Olivia stared at Aiden, "What do you mean, a Mate?!?" "Exactly what he said; Mom, Aiden found his mate this morning," Leo informed them as he came up holding Cora's hand. "Where were you two just now," William asked, eyeing them. "I'm sorry, William, I needed to change and grab some clothes for Mia before we came this way," Cora told them as she handed Mia the bag of clothes. "Thank you, Cora; I appreciate it. I want to get dressed if you don't mind me leaving you. Aiden looks at Mia, "You're all good, go change, Love." Mia kisses him on his forehead and walks to the bathroom attached to Aiden's room. "Who is she?" They all turn to look at the door. Standing there is Aiden's ex-girlfriend Missy. "What are you doing here," sneered Leo. "Now, Leo, you know that's no way to treat family," Missy said innocently. "You are not family, nor will you ever be family, Missy, because my brother has found his mate." Missy looked at Aiden, "Is this true? Either way, I want you to reject her to uphold our engagement." "Missy, there is no engagement. How often do I have to tell you there is no engagement." "Yes, there is; I told my dad that there is. I bet you already went and mated with that tramp, so you didn't have to keep our engagement." Missy sneered, looking around the room. "I will make you all pay for going back on our engagement, My daddy will be hearing about this, and he will bring you all down to your knees." Mia came out of the bathroom as Missy looked at her, "I hope he makes you happy because you have started a war." Just then, Missy darted out of the hospital. "What was that all about?" Mia asked, walking to Aiden's bedside and grabbing his hand. "Yea, you two, what was that all about?" Cora asked with eyes glowing bright red. "Honestly, it's nothing but since you asked. Her name is Missy; we went and visited their pack about two months ago. Somehow she and her daddy got it in their heads that she and Aiden were engaged to be married. They are under the impression that if Aidan got married before finding his Mate, he would have to become King, and I would be pushed from the running." Leo tells them. William walks to the end of Aiden's bed, "It is nothing more than a power grab; I had something similar happen right before I found your mother." "Why would anyone do that? I mean, what would she gain by doing that, Aiden is not going to be King, right?" Mia asked. "That is entirely up to him; if he doesn't want to be, he doesn't have to be," William replied. Just then, the doctor walked in, "Well, Your Highness, it looks like the silver is all out of your blood." "So he is allowed to leave?" Olivia questioned the doctor. "Yes, but take it easy for the day. That means no shifting to your lycan; give your body time to heal from blood loss." "I'll make sure he does as he's told, Mr. Burton." "Thank you, Mia. Again, I am sorry my daughter did this; I tried to save her from her mother's ways." "Mr. Burton, it's not your fault; she made her own choice. I will speak with my uncle about her sentence and make sure he takes you into account as well." "Thank you, Cora. I appreciate it very much," Mr. Burton replied as he left the room. "Well, look at you, you're gonna make a perfect Queen," Olivia commented. "Not a perfect Queen, but I will try my best to be understanding and loyal to my people." Leo wrapped his arms around Cora, "That's all I can ask from my Mate." "Okay, let's get out of this hospital; I hate it here," Aiden piped up. "Okay, handsome, we're going; besides, we need to see Alpha Ethan and talk to him about Cora's and my transfer papers." Mia told them as they left the hospital room and headed across the courtyard.
