MIA'S POV
"Wait," I shouted before they could drag her out of the room.
For a split second nothing moved. The guards slowed as if someone had pressed a hand against the world. Blair's eyes bored into mine and the smirk on his face widened.
"You want to speak?" he asked, voice soft enough that it should have been kinder than the situation warranted. "Say it then."
I swallowed against the leather biting into my wrists. Words wanted to come, pleas and bargains I could make to trade my life for hers but the bond thrummed under my skin like a living thing and clogged my throat.
"You don't have to-" I rasped.
"Let her live, I will do anything you tell me", I added.
At my words, Blair tilted his head, studying me the way a predator studies a wounded animal.
Finally, he laughed. It wasn't loud, but it made my heart pound more.
"Anything?" He sarcastically asked. He then stepped closer and his shadow fell over my knees. "Very well."
For a breath I thought the worst had been avoided that bargain might buy my stepsister a few breaths more. Then his smile widened in a way that made bile rise at the back of my throat.
"She will live as long as I allow," he said, slow and precise. "Not because I am kind, but because your suffering is more entertaining than her quick death. You will watch her be broken into something obedient and quiet. You will watch her lose the light in her eyes. You will watch every small thing that made her yours stripped away."
"No-" I tried. "You can't-"
"I can," Blair interrupted quickly. "But you have an option in this", he murmured, his tone almost gentle.
My heart stuttered. "What… what option?"
He straightened, turning his gaze toward her. She trembled in the guards' hold, her lips parted, eyes wide with terror.
"You begged for her life. I will grant it," he said. "But you going to be my breeder, used for my own pleasures. And when you have given me the heir I demand, I will kill you."
The walls seemed to close in on me. My pulse thundered in my ears. I struggled against the restraints, the leather biting until it felt like fire along my skin. "No," I rasped, shaking my head so hard my vision blurred. "You can't ...please",
Blair coldly stared at me when I spoke that.
"Be grateful for that option. From the start, you were never worthy of a mate. You are weak. You are a failure." His lip curled, disdain dripping like venom.
"I wonder why the moon goddess ever saw fit to bind someone like you to me. You don't deserve to even be my pack's breeder. You deserve nothing but death."
I felt my heart breaking more.
The words slammed into me harder than any blow ever could. My lungs seized, my chest ached as though claws had torn it open, and still I couldn't breathe. The bond writhed inside me like something alive, choking me from the inside out. Each insult wasn't just sound , it was agony to me.
I wanted to shout at him, to deny him, to tell him he was wrong. But I couldn't. My mouth opened and no words came. My throat burned. My eyes blurred, hot tears spilling down my cheeks, shaming me further in front of him.
Behind Blair's towering figure, my mother whimpered in the guards' grip. The sound ripped me apart. I had to do this for her.
"It's fine, I will be your breeder", I retorted finally. The air in the room shifted. Even the guards faltered, as though they hadn't expected me to accept so quickly.
Blair straightened and gestured lazily to the guards. "Take her stepsister away. She'll live… for now. But make sure she remembers whose mercy she breathes on."
"Drag the breeder to my headquarters", Blair ordered. The guards immediately hauled me upright without any mercy.
I didn't fight, there was nothing left to give but my body trembled with an animal fury that had nowhere to go.
They shoved my stepsister ahead of me like a baited animal, then stopped just inside the doorway as Blair lifted a hand and watched.
I didn't say anything until I was pushed inside a room too.
The room they shoved me into was big, too big for comfort. It had everything, nice bed. Black sheets were draped over it and pillows embroidered with silver thread sat neatly at the head, untouched and perfect.
There were shelves, too lined with books, ornaments, and objects I couldn't name, things that glimmered faintly like treasures stolen from conquered lands.
But none of that mattered.
My knees hit the floor as the guards released me, the rough shove sending me sprawling on the rug. I tried to push myself upright, but my arms ached from the tight bindings, and my body felt too weak to resist. My head spun, my chest burned, and my pulse roared inside my ears like the pounding of war drums.
Blair stepped inside behind me, and immediately the air changed. It was like the whole room bent toward him, as though even the walls acknowledged his dominance.
I didn't dare look at him at first, though my instincts screamed to track him, to never let him out of my sight. The bond tugged, pulling my awareness toward him whether I wanted it or not. My breaths came shallow, like I was drowning in the very air.
"Untie her", He ordered his men
The guards didn't hesitate. One knelt behind me, fingers tugging at the leather restraints that had bitten into my wrists for hours. When they finally loosened, the sting was immediate. My blood rushed back, hot and painful, leaving angry red grooves carved into my skin.
My hands fell forward uselessly. They trembled too much to brace me, too weak to rise. I curled them into fists, nails digging into my palms, trying to ground myself, trying to pretend I still had some control.
Blair's footsteps drew closer, slow, deliberate, until his boots came into my blurred vision. Black leather polished to a shine, stopping inches from where I knelt.
"Go and shower right now, I want to find you already prepared",
I froze immediately when I heard his words. Was he going to fill me with his sperms today?
