Why shouldn’t I just go?” “They’re out there waiting for you.” “Who’s waiting for me?” “Wolves,” Tem said sending a chill down Red’s neck. “What do you mean?” “I kept them away, but you can’t go out.” With that, Tem’s hand let go of Red’s ankle and flopped to the ground. “Tem?” she said before poking his shoulder. He barely moved. “Tem, are you alright?” she asked panicked that he could be dead. When Tem’s massive body slowly transformed back into a wolf and the sound of the wolf’s panting filled the cave, Red relaxed. He hadn’t left her on her own. And seeing that none of his wounds were life-threatening, Red sat on the ground next to the wolf and placed her hand on its shoulder. As uncomfortable as she was, Red heeded Tem’s warning and didn’t leave the cave. With him
