One thing my wife and me did see on a regular basis was the local kids, fresh out of school for the day, bullying George who wanted nothing else but to circle the grounds of the state hospital in peace and quiet. We felt for George, as the neighborhood kids threw rocks at him. It was either rocks or empty cans and bottles that they found in the gutter. These kids were much younger than he, and George could have easily defended himself, but he chose not to. He voluntarily submitted to their a***e, and this left us to wonder why he didn’t defend himself from their vicious attacks. It was only after witnessing this harassment a few times that we pulled to the curbside to talk to him.
