“Officer Sanders, you have been on the force for six months, am I right?”“Yes, sir,” she said. “I’m a rookie.”
“Well, according to my files here, you graduated from Community College with an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. From this transcript all I can see are straight A’s. You also aced your testing to become an officer, and you were in the top five percent overall at the Academy. I’m assuming that this is true as well?”
“Yes, sir. I’ve always wanted to be a police officer. I studied hard in school and at the Academy.”
“I see that, yes. But then how on Earth, with your training and your high marks, did you shoot a fourteen-year old black kid in the middle of the street? What compelled you to do such a thing?”
Officer Sanders looked around the small concrete interrogation room.
