I get the feeling they don’t pay me enough for what I chose to do with my life, but my entire family – the men, that is – do the same thing from generation to generation. I am just doing what my genes are telling me to do. I wouldn’t say that I’m that great at my job, but I really don’t have to be great at anything to carry a radio, a weapon, and a pair of handcuffs around the waist. And yes, I do wear a bullet-proof vest, because you never know when some perp’s gonna take a shot at my true-blue a*s. That comes with the job too – that element of surprise and the rush of adrenaline when your life can change in a New York minute.Sure, there are cops who are dirty, bureaucrats who are corrupt, but I’m not supposed to think about all that. Too much thinking and complaining renders my focus too
