SIX DAYS UNTIL THE CHANGE

(Kari's POV)

I woke up at 5 a.m. to a sharp pain in my head and spine and I had to get ready for my last week of school before Christmas Break. I get a whole month at home with my brothers, my parents, and the Alpha family. The day before Christmas Eve is my birthday and then on Christmas Day, we will have a Christmas Ball for the whole pack. My dad's parents will be here and so will the previous Alpha and Luna will be there.

The Snow Mist Pack has about 500 members and growing. we are the 2nd strongest pack in America under the Royal Family. My dad Beta Asher and head warrior trains us all but I get lessons alone with him. I enjoy my alone time with my dad though he always makes it easy for me to understand.

I hopped in the shower and washed my hair and body with my cotton candy shampoo and body wash. I'm hoping the hot water and shower head helps ease the pain I've been feeling for the past week. I need to talk to my mom about this. I would tell my dad but his wolf Lycan goes overboard when it comes to anything to do with me. After I finish my shower I get out and dry off. I then get dressed into my purple tank top and black leather jacket ripped blue jeans and thigh-high black combat boots.

I straightened my hair and put on my eyeliner and lip gloss. when I leave my room I grab my backpack and headed downstairs from the Beta floor which is on the 4th floor. when I got to the kitchen I noticed there was one other person and I was Quinn our future Alpha. he was looking in the fridge for something.

I smiled to myself. He was wearing a red silk shirt that I got him for his birthday 2 years ago, black jeans and air force ones. as if he sensed me in the room his head whipped out of the fridge and his eyes were metallic red letting me know that Blay was out and in control. I instinctively put my head down out of respect.

"Good morning Quinn good morning Blay, how are you?"

"Oh, Kari good morning. We are doing good thank you. I didn't mean to startle you I'm sorry. Please lift your head, Blay didn't mean to scare you." At that, I lifted my head and smiled at him seeing that his eyes were back to normal.

"It's fine I just wasn't expecting to see Blay this early in the morning. He doesn't seem like a morning person hahaha."

"Yeah he's been on edge for a few days now and he won't tell me why. What has you up this early?"

"Well I still have one week of school left before break begins, and school starts in an hour."

"Oh Okay."

At some point, Damian and Lucian snuck up behind me and squeezed me in between them in a bear hug and I kiss on top of my head. I could have sworn I heard Quinn growl.

"Good morning little wolf. Why are you up so early?"

"Yeah isn't it Christmas break yet?"

I rolled my eyes and told them the same thing I told Quinn. I couldn't tell any of them about me being in pain until I talked to mom. Because if I tell them they will go straight to dad and Lycan will go nuts that I didn't tell them sooner.

"Now is you 3 will excuse me that coffee is calling my name and I need to head to school."

"Yes ma'am," Damian said laughing at me. "I will see you guys at dinner. later guys."

"Bye Damian."

"Hey, Kari do you need a ride to school. It's not the way I'm heading but I don't want you to walk alone."

Out of nowhere, I heard Quinn growl again. we turn and look at him. I tilt my head to the side and give him a funny look. "Quinn are you okay?" As if snapping out of a trance he shakes his head.

"Yeah, I'm fine."

"Yo Quinn, you're going to the school, right? Do you think you can give Kari a ride for me? Normally I would let her walk but being so close to her first shift dad is going into extra protective mode."

"Of course."

"Really!!!!" I was so excited that I would get to ride with Quinn and I wouldn't have to walk with all this pain. "Thank you."

"Anytime Kari."
