KAIRA I nodded quickly, clutching my phone tighter, his hands dropped from my shoulders and I immediately felt the loss of warmth. Without another word, I turned and hurried down the hallway, my footsteps echoing against the walls. My mind raced as I walked, why did he sound like that? Was he angry that I was out late? Or was it something else? I reached a corner and something made me stop. Curiosity? Stupidity? I wasn't sure. But I pressed myself against the wall and peeked back around the corner carefully.
