This morning, Marina woke up in her familiar bed. The sound of running water indicated that the room's owner was showering inside. The Thai woman held a smile for several minutes as she recalled his confession of love from last night. She didn't know when she had developed feelings for him. Before she knew it, she had fallen in love with him. If her brothers found out, they would surely spank her for daring to give her heart to such a bad boy.
"What are you staring at?"
Her little mind was so lost in thought that she didn't notice the muscular figure who had just stepped out of the bathroom. Chris, wearing only a towel, walked naked to stand in front of the dark dressing table. Marina inadvertently stared at his broad chest and sculpted abs with a nervous flush. Suddenly, her lower abdomen felt a strange clenching. The vivid memories of their passionate lovemaking last night were unforgettable.
"N-nothing... Are you leaving already?"
"Hmm, go take a shower. Aren't you going to see me off?"
"But that woman..."
Marina didn't want to talk about it because Emily was annoying her quite a bit. Even though he had assured her that he had never been intimate with that woman, what about now? They wouldn't be together for a week. Who knew what he and that woman would do behind her back? Even if he had feelings for her, it didn't mean she was that important.
"I'll quickly sort out the wedding. Don't worry. I have no intention of sleeping with Emily."
He saw her displeasure and spoke, hoping to reassure her. In truth, he was also looking for a way out of this situation. The more time he spent with Emily every day, the clearer the picture became for Christian. She did nothing but find trivial things to do all day. She didn't touch housework, couldn't cook. She couldn't compare to Marina in the slightest.
Since he was easily annoyed, if he had to stay with someone like that for long, he would surely be plagued by migraines.
"Are you going to cancel the wedding for me?" Marina raised an eyebrow, challenging him to actually do it. Seeing her delicate face, Chris couldn't resist. He stepped closer, stopping directly in front of her, then braced himself with both hands, leaning down towards her who was sitting on the bed, leaving only an inch of space between them.
"That look on your face... do you want to be taken again?" he asked with a mischievous grin. Seeing this, Marina wrapped both arms around his neck. She knew he didn't have enough time to torment her, which was why she dared to provoke him like this.
"Yes, I do... I want it hard. Mmmph."
His thick lips lowered to crush the woman beneath him, unable to resist. But after only a brief kiss, Chris had to stop. He let out a long sigh. Seeing her in this "tigress" role, he really didn't want to leave.
"Don't be too stubborn, alright? Wait for me to come back."
"Yes, I'll wait."
"Do you want your phone back?"
Chris spoke in good spirits. Although Marina was slightly puzzled by his kindness, she nodded enthusiastically. Her small heart began to swell, giving him good feelings once again now that he seemed to have stopped being so dictatorial with her.
"Aren't you afraid I'll run away?" Marina took her luxurious phone into her hands before asking.
"Well, you've fallen in love with me, haven't you? Where would you run off to?" He gave her another cunning smile as his thick hand continued to button his shirt.
"Hmph! You're quite cheesy!"
"Thanks for the compliment. Even if you tried to run away, I'd find you anyway."
He walked back to her and sat down beside her. A pink velvet box was pulled from the bedside drawer. Marina's heart pounded when she saw him take out a ring box, seemingly about to give it to her.
"What is it?"
"I had it made for you, but I don't know if you'll like it."
After he realized she had intended to give him a ring, he wanted to give her one back too. He had ordered his subordinates to buy it for him since yesterday, and they had been scolded many times before they could choose one. Marina's eyes welled up. She gazed at the perfectly sized diamond ring, overcome with joy, speechless. She didn't even care about its value, because the only thing she cared about was his thoughtfulness.
"Y-yes, I like it."
"Wear it and don't take it off." Chris spoke before carefully placing the ring on her left ring finger. Although not many profound words came from the large man's mouth, wearing the ring on her left ring finger implicitly indicated that he was claiming her. And Marina's eyes widened again when she saw that he was wearing the ring she had thrown in the trash.
"Th-that ring... How did you get it back?"
"Found it in the trash."
"Uh... Hmph! Someone went to all the trouble to buy it for you..."
"Then why didn't you give it to me? Why did you throw it away?"
"Because I was sad then! You said you were getting married. My ring probably wasn't worth anything, I thought."
Marina couldn't help but inwardly criticize him. Her words, tinged with hurt, made the fearsome mafia boss smile broadly, pleased to see her jealousy.
"If it wasn't worth anything, I wouldn't be wearing it. Stop making that face. Go take a shower before I change my mind, don't go, and just take you instead!"
The young woman gave him a glare before quickly jumping into the bathroom. From now on, Christian told her to sleep in this room as usual. Marina didn't object, as she had become accustomed to living in this room anyway.
Half an hour later
Emily stood with a sour face, waiting for Chris to come downstairs for almost twenty minutes. Since she had severe menstrual cramps, she hadn't bothered the man as usual today. She intended to wait for him first to find a way to impress him again, but it seemed her plan failed before it even began.
When Christian walked down hand-in-hand with another woman, her beautifully made-up face flushed. Envy surged and lodged in her chest. Even as his fiancée, he had never even held her hand. Who was this Marina, and where did she come from, that he held her hand so tightly? Despite her considerable dissatisfaction, Emily chose to lift her chin and approach Christian, fawning over him as usual.
"Chris, you're here. Let's go. We need to choose wedding dresses today too."
Her slender arm hooked onto his strong arm, and she deliberately brought up the wedding, hoping to make Marina realize her place. When Marina heard this, she prepared to pull her hand away, but Christian sensed it and tightened his grip on her hand even more.
"Yes. Emily, go wait for me on the yacht first. I'll follow you up. I need to talk to Rina for a moment."
"Alright. Don't be long, okay? I miss you."
She left behind sweet words, but her gaze fixed on Marina without relent. But in the end, she had to leave because Christian's stern expression made her dare not object. Besides, the air here was so hot it stung her skin. There was no reason for her to stand around. Emily left with a huff, and Marina quickly pulled her hand back. The young woman frowned slightly, not quite trusting Christian's words.
"Are you sure she won't devour you?"
"Hmph! I've survived for days now. Don't worry too much. I'm going to inspect goods at the warehouse. I'm not going to sleep with Emily."
"Let's hope that's true."
The two stared at each other for a moment before reluctantly parting ways. A week wasn't a long time, but it wasn't a short time either, for people who had just revealed their feelings to each other. Marina stood watching the luxurious yacht with a longing gaze. The beautiful diamond ring sparkled, catching the sunlight. Marina lifted it to admire it before smiling sweetly. From now on, she would try to follow her heart for once. Even though he had treated her very badly at the beginning, she truly believed that Christian didn't want things to be that way.
