Seeing My Grandfather's Spiritual Body at Funeral

683 Words
On December 3rd, I returned to my hometown to attend my grandfather’s funeral. It was a deeply meaningful and unforgettable experience. The elders of the family organized a traditional Buddhist funeral. They placed my grandfather’s body in the center of the ancestral hall and held a seven-day wake. This arrangement showed respect for the deceased. Family members took turns chanting scriptures for my grandfather. In Buddhist beliefs, chanting scriptures creates a positive energy wave that helps purify the deceased’s soul. It guides their soul to a higher realm. This ritual not only supported my grandfather’s soul journey but also expressed our family’s love and blessings for him. As I sat down and closed my eyes to chant for my grandfather, I suddenly saw him through my third eye. He was in another space, listening to the scriptures, clapping along, and smiling joyfully. He looked very content. In Buddhist beliefs, chanting scriptures creates a positive energy wave that helps purify the deceased’s soul. It guides their soul to a higher realm. On the seventh day of the funeral, the Buddhist monk, along with many relatives, chanted scriptures for my grandfather. This act guided my grandfather’s soul and honored the family’s faith and traditions. Many of the male elders carried my grandfather’s coffin, step by step, completing his final journey. After his body was laid to rest, the Buddhist monk and male elders took his spirit tablet back to the ancestral hall. The family gathered there for the final chant. At that moment, I saw my grandfather through my third eye once again. I also saw many ancestors who had passed on, appearing to welcome him. I saw my father, my aunt, my great-grandfather, my great-grandmother, and finally, my grandfather’s mother. She wore a golden-orange Western-style dress, looking like a noble, elegant woman in her 30s. She gracefully stepped forward to welcome my grandfather. When my grandfather saw his mother, he was very excited. He walked up to her, knelt down, and gazed at her with tears pouring down his cheeks. He held her hands tightly. His mother smiled at him, gently lifted him up, and embraced him warmly. Afterward, she took his hand and led him toward a light ahead. The other ancestors followed them into the light. In the end, my grandfather and the ancestors turned around and waved goodbye to me. Then they stepped into the light and disappeared as the light slowly faded away. Though life is finite, the bond of family is unshakable. It endures no matter where we are. Love and memory have a powerful ability to transcend time and space, leaving a deep, lasting imprint on our hearts. The famous Swedish scientist Emanuel Swedenborg recorded remarkable phenomena in his book The Spiritual Diary. Through his unique out-of-body experiences and journeys into the spiritual realm, Swedenborg offers us a window into the mysteries of the supernatural world. In his view, the spiritual world serves as a resting place for the soul before it reaches its ultimate destination. This concept adds depth and complexity to our understanding of death. Swedenborg’s perspective suggests that death is not the end of life, but rather a vital step in the soul’s long journey. By exploring these realms beyond the physical world, we gain a deeper understanding of human existence. We also uncover the intricate connections we share with the world around us. Such exploration broadens our cognitive boundaries. It also prompts us to reflect on the nature of life. It encourages us to value every spiritual awakening and emotional exchange. Therefore, we pursue greater spiritual fulfillment and stronger bonds in our finite lives.
