Eleanor tugged at his sleeve.
"Honey, don't be so mean in front of our daughter."
My dad's face changed instantly, shooting Eleanor a soothing look.
I gave a half-smile. I saw this reaction coming from a mile away, but there were some things I had to come back and clear up face-to-face.
Hearing the commotion, Chloe walked into the dining room and sat down. She flashed her wrist at our mom.
"Mom, look at my new bracelet. Isn't it pretty?"
A string of sapphires caught the light.
I didn't react. But Lily let out a little "Huh," unable to hold her tongue.
"Auntie's bracelet looks exactly like the one Daddy bought to apologize to Mommy today."
