Ella's POV
"Lily!" I called out immediately.
"Mommy!" Lily exclaimed.
The moment she saw me, her face lit up. She waved at me excitedly, but the circle of bodyguards surrounding her kept her from moving.
My heart ached with guilt as I hurried over.
"I'm sorry I came so late. I'll never make you wait for me at school again, I promise."
She didn't blame me at all. Instead, she was so understanding it broke my heart.
"I know you had something really important to do, something that could change your future. I won't hold you back, Mommy."
Those innocent words took on a completely different meaning in Damien's ears.
