Chapter 6

Arousal fills the air, seeming to pause the world. The birds chirping, the clicking on the clock, passing cars all silent. His eyes were still locked onto mine silently asking permission to continue. I reach up capturing his lips with mine. He presses his lips back more firmly, slowly moving inside me. “Elizabeth,” he moans. The way he says my name, full of need and desire. He needed me. I could see it in his eyes, feel it in his touch. I can’t remember a time that he truly needed me. I wrap my legs around his waist, wanting him as close to me as possible. He quickens his pace causing me to moan. His hand entangling my hair. He pulls my head back, attacking my neck. I could feel myself getting close. Years of tension and pining climax of the shocking reality that this was truly happening. I can feel my pleasure building in my core. My nails digging into his ass as it intensifies. He quickly grabs one of my legs throwing it over his shoulder. I scream out his name letting the orgasm overtake me. Not long after, he finishes groaning out my name. He buries his face into my neck leaving gentle kisses all over. He rolls onto his back with a moan, turning to look at me before pulling me onto him. Looking into Matthew’s face, awareness of what we had just done floods me. Evan. I start to panic with the color in my face draining. I pull myself up onto my knees. Matthew, seeing the terror in my face, sits up following me. “Hey. What’s wrong?” I could barely hear the fear in his voice. I jump off the bed in search of my clothes. “Elizabeth. Tell me what’s wrong,” his voice faltering. I swiftly throw on my dress. “Where are my shoes?” I unwittingly ask, toning everything and everyone out. He grabs my arm halting me in place. “What’s wrong?” his stare impenetrable. I shake my head at him. “I need to find my shoes.” I break myself away from him when I spot them under his couch. Quickly putting them on, I grab my purse making my way to the door. “Elizabeth!” he calls out. “I have to go. Evan should be home by now.” I yank his door open and slam it shut behind me. Matthew’s POV I could feel Elizabeth’s orgasm build. Knowing I wasn’t too far behind, I grab her leg and throw it over my shoulder plunging deep inside her. I hear her sweet voice calling my name out. How I waited to hear her say it like that. Her voice sent me over. Pleasure overwhelmed me as I finished inside her. I buried my face into her neck leaving kisses all over her body. I groan rolling onto my back looking at her beautiful face. Missing the feeling of her, I pull her on top of me relishing every touch. Suddenly, her face drops. Her rosy cheeks completely drained of color. Seeing her back away, I sit up, fear engulfing me. “Hey. What’s wrong?” I ask. She jumps out of bed racing into the living room. I pull on my boxers and chase after her, feeling my heart pound in my chest. “Elizabeth. Tell me what’s wrong?” She was frantically grabbing her clothes. I watch her stop to put on her dress. “Where are my shoes?” I hear her finally ask. I grab her arm, hoping I can calm her a little. “What’s wrong?” I plead. Her behavior was terrifying me. We are finally together, yet she is distraught. She desperately looks around until her eyes meet something. I feel her pull from me, not that I had a tight grip. She reaches under my couch quickly grabbing her shoes and throwing them on. “Elizabeth,” I call out as she rushes to the front door. She pauses for a second. “I have to go. Evan should be home by now.” She slams the door leaving me in a frenzy. Evan. “Of course,” I thought. My face reddens. I felt incredibly stupid. Of course, she was panicking. She had just cheated on him. No thanks to me obviously. Guilt starts taking over as I pick my clothes up off the floor. I just ruined her relationship. A steady relationship at that. She was moving on from me, living a good life, and I came back and ruined it. I wanted to slap myself for her. Walking into the kitchen, I open the fridge grabbing a beer. Sighing, I crack it open chugging the entire thing. Taking another one from the fridge, I plop onto the couch. I wanted to apologize, to remind her that I wasn’t going anywhere unless she wanted me to. I reach for my phone finding her name in messages. ‘Liz, I’m sorry. I never intended for all of this to happen. To put you in a dreadful spot especially with Evan. But I want you to know that I don’t regret what we did. And I’m not going anywhere. I’m not leaving you again. I won’t make that choice again. -Matt’ I sigh, rubbing my hands over my face. Tonight, would be a long night. I stand up and head into my bedroom throwing myself on the bed. Crawling under the blanket, I silently pray that sleep will overtake me soon. As much as I want her right now, I have to remember she’s not mine.
