Old money comes with endless drama and even more scheming running underneath. Sloane sat in my passenger seat now, crying hard enough to shake. Camille slunk out of the bar before Sloane could spot her. None of it made sense to me. I had no idea how badly Camille wanted this marriage to happen. Her own son's happiness clearly never entered the calculation. The streets had gone quiet by then, and Sloane couldn't get a word out through the crying, so I took her home with me.
