Chapter Eight Medicines and MadnessA SCRUFFY-LOOKING brown dryll was waiting for Soren and Deveron as soon as they stepped out of their house. It ruffled its feathers with a haughty squawk, as if it had grown impatient with waiting for them to get up. It shook a sharp-taloned claw at the boys as Soren approached the bird calmly. He removed the tatty piece of paper attached to its brace. As soon as Soren had it in his hand, the bird shot off into the sky. The boys huddled together to look at the crudely drawn map that Jade had sent to them. She had kept her word, and Soren's heart leapt in his chest. Now the glory could be his, and she would be mightily impressed with his bravery. It was just a shame his liability of a brother was with him, but there was nothing he could do about that.
