“ Ah, Ashley! There you are.” Harrison slid smoothly beside me, flashing these women a charming smile. " Mrs Worthington, Clarice,...always a pleasure. Though I must say, you all seem quite interested in Ashley’s life, I do need a moment to discuss something important with her.”
The women stiffened slightly. “ How wonderful to see you. We were just catching up with Ashley.” Mrs Worthington said with a forced smile.
"I'm sure you were." His smile was polite but cool. " Ashley, Harvey is looking for you. Something about opening presents?"
I exhaled in relief. "Right. Excuse me."
He flashed a dazzling smile, gently guiding me away by the elbow before they could say another word.
"Thank you," I murmured, finally allowing myself to breathe properly.
