I was reviewing the quarterly reports when voices made me pause mid-keystroke.
"I can't believe it? Helly's leading the Henderson project?" Gianna said.
“Yes,” William huffed.
I recognized the annoyance in his voice immediately, followed by Sophia's equally frustrated tone.
"Diana worked on the proposal for three months. She practically lived in this office. And they just... hand it to Helly?"
The Henderson project. The meeting where Clara had suggested Gianna’s name but Helly wanted that for herself. Diana had been the obvious choice. She was meticulous, experienced, respected.
