Rose POV The place smelled like cardboard and old decisions. Sofia walked ahead of us down the row of orange rolling doors with her arms folded over herself. Not because it was cold. Just the way people hold themselves when they're trying to keep something in. James walked beside me. His arm brushed mine once and he didn't move away and neither did I. We didn't talk about it. "Here," Sofia said. Unit forty-seven. She dialed the combination from memory, which meant she'd thought about coming here enough times that the numbers had stayed with her.
