Selena’s POV
“How fast can you put a protection spell on the house?” Rain asked in a low voice, the second we were inside.
And I could see why.
Workers were loitering around, finishing various projects, and needed updates. Still, the bright, open foyer with the beautifully hand-carved double staircases sparked emotions and memories that I’d suppressed for far too long. No matter where I looked, memories came flooding back, and I realized that I missed my mother.
Especially now that I was pregnant...
“I’ll get working on it right away,” Stella replied, taking everything in. “But it won’t be enough if another witch attacks. I’m not powerful enough to counter that.”
