“Why can’t I feel the mate bond?” I asked Rain, turning to face him. He stilled, but only for a few seconds, before he continued to caress my hair, helping me brush it out and dry it off.
But that only made ice form in my stomach!
Rain always had an answer for everything. Hell, sometimes I worried that he didn’t truly listen to me, because he replied before I’d even finished speaking. He never went quiet about anything. Hell, I couldn’t remember the last time he went quiet about anything.
“Is there…?” I asked, forcing my voice to remain calm and not give away the pit I felt in my stomach. “Is there something wrong with me?”
