Selena’s POV I smirked conspiratorially, hoping to throw Joey off his game. I shuffled the deck of cards, my fingers moving smoothly over the worn edges. Joey sat across from me at the small wooden table, his expression unreadable with his arms folded over his chest and holding the cards close to his chest. The late afternoon sun cast a golden glow over the courtyard, warming my skin despite the seasonal turn. The trees still clung onto their yellowing leaves as if their lives depended on it. The mountains were turning brown, and while some might call it a boring and dead color, I liked it. Seeing the seasons change was my way of telling time being locked up in the castle. I loved to watch as nature changed her dresses. From vibrant red in spring to a kaleidoscope of colors in summer.
