The following week was a countdown. I moved through the house like a ghost, playing my parts with a precision that would have made a professional actress proud. I was the fragile victim for Silas, the obedient pet for Lucas, and the perfect daughter for my mother. But inside, I was a predator waiting for the gap in the fence.
