Chapter 20

2581 Words
“So, I’m assuming you have the Illusion ability?” We have been riding for a long time to Kiru Kiru, and yet we’re only halfway there. Dmitri has been trying to converse with me the whole ride, while Yeke reads a book that eerily reminds of Marcel. Occasionally, she tries to get the pixie to stop “pestering” (her words) me. When she suddenly asks Dmitri that question I perk up. I’m even more curious about their abilities after seeing a bit of it last night, but I didn’t want to ask in case it’s rude. The mint colored pixie blinks, “yeah, I do. I hadn’t used it in a minute though before last night.” He shrugs. “Does every creature have a certain ability?” I pipe in. Yeke smiles softly. “Sort of. Vampires, pixies, and elementals all are born with Abilities, which is like a specialized magic in a sense. It really depends on the creature how they source this ability. With elementals, for example, we can use the elements, like fire, water, earth and air to source these abilities. We adsorb the elements through our body, like this,” Yeke closes her eyes, and a soft, white light covers her for a moment. When she opens her eyes, they’re white for a split moment, before going back to their usual beautiful blue. I gaze in awe and Yeke smiles. “Concerning the abilities themselves, they vary in what a creature can do. Like take Dmitri here has the Illusion ability, which means he has a special magic that can allow him to knock other creatures out into a dream-like state, he can give them hallucinations, and he can affect their dreams as well. I have the Soul ability, which means I can see people’s souls (which do tell a lot about a creature), I have full access to ones soul physically and mentally, which is very dangerous as I can easily permanently harm them, and I can restore and drain soul energy. Some creatures have the same power to both Dmitri and I, but not every pixie has the Illusion ability and not every air elemental has the Soul ability. It just depends on what your born with.” “And as a moral creature, we all take responsibility not to use our abilities often. Especially since it often leads to a lot of harm than anything.” Dmitri cuts in; Yeke nods in agreement. “Precisely. Were-creatures do not have abilities though. Instead, were-creatures have Powers. Powers are basically reserves in their bodies that hold a lot of energy, in which they can call on to use to increase their strength, stamina, senses and even size. Each were-creature is born with a different size of reserve in their body, but each have this powers reserve. It’s mostly used in battle.” Yeke continues. “Are very many creatures open about their abilities, and power reserves?” “Not really,” Yeke rubs her neck, “it’s something you don’t go around telling everyone, mostly for ones own safety. It’s something creatures often only tell their life mate, even family often don’t know of each other’s abilities or the size of their powers!” “Yeah, how did your father know to teach you the Air Mind Warp ability for your Soul ability?“ Dmitri asks curiously. Yeke smiles nostalgically, “he figured it out on his own; I always had a keen sense of other creature.” She chuckles. “With my ability, I can see if someone is more prone to anger or love, if they’re a “bad creature” in a sense or not. The soul reveals a lot about someone and I can see a lot of it. As a child, I always knew who to trust and who not to. My father picked up my “sixth sense” quickly; but he never openly said he know of my ability. He just one day told me he was going to teach me the Air Mind Warp, which is something only someone with a Soul ability can do.” “Must of been nice in school,” Dmitri jokes. Yeke laughs. School? “Yeah, it came in handy, even if I wasn’t the most popular because of it.” She shrugs. “What about you Bunny? Experience any special abilities or powers,” he turns to me, his mint eyes peering curiously at me. It’s too much; I frown and look away. “No, nothing like that happened when I was with my previous master. At least, not from what I remember; I never even know creatures had abilities or powers.” Yeke and Dmitri frown deeply, they both open their mouth, “what do you mean, “from what you can remember?”” But Dmitri beats Yeke to it. I wasn’t about to tell them I had forgotten the details of my parents gruesome death. Skins- no stop. I smile wryly, “my memory is just a little foggy.” “I can’t imagine what you’ve experienced, I’m so sorry Bunny,” Yeke turns fully to me, scooting closer in comfort. I’m never sure what to say when they say stuff like this and I go silent. “Well I’m glad I got the chance to meet you Bunny,” Dmitri cuts in, trying to break the tense air. “But why didn’t you sit next to me instead of Yeke?” He pouts dramatically, patting the spot on the cushion next to him. “Because Yekes my friend.” I answer instantly. “But I’m your friend too right?” I c**k my head to the side. “I don’t really know you.” Yeke giggles softly, trying to hide it behind her hand. The pixie puts on a half-hearted wounded expression. “You hurt me lovely, dear Bunny!” I raise a brow at the endearments again. I thought the first time was an accident, but Dmitri hasn’t stopped. ... Marcel... If he was here, he would be reading book right nownno doubt. He often reads on trips. And he would likely tried to have played a mind game on Dmitri by now, and have teased Yeke too. And we would have had one of our long discussions, Marcel and I. Where he would have likely called me his “little bunny;” for some reason, that endearment and the way Marcel calls me it sits better with me than the ones from Dmitri. I wonder why I just thought of him? Shouldn’t I be ecstatic to be away from my master? Master. I haven’t called Marcel that in my head for a long time. But at the end of the day, it’s still the truth; he’s my master and I’m just his slave. But sometimes, with how kindly he treats me, I forget the boundaries between us. I wish he was here... And... I wish I was sitting next to him. I... miss him? I shake my head slightly. It doesn’t matter, I just hope he’s all right. “Bunny?” I jolt from my thoughts, Yeke and Dmitri are staring at me in concern. “Are you all right?” Yeke finishes worriedly. “Yeah. I was just thinking...” I don’t elaborate, glancing through the small slot of the window. Marcel... “We should be arriving to Kiru Kiru(1) in an hour,” Yeke informs while taking a small peak out the carriage window. I perk up and turn to the pixie, who brightens at my attention. “Is there something you wish to ask lovely Bunny?” He purrs, leaning closer towards me from across the carriage. “Dmitri, what is Nebia like?” I ask curiously. Yeke giggles and Dmitris expression dims a little, but he quickly smirks pleasantly. “One word best fits Nebia, which is: beautiful. Because it’s the water elemental home kingdom, it’s filled with water. Lots of lakes, waterfalls just water in general. There’s also a lots of forests with swamps. Nebia is ran by Ruler Gruu(2), and it’s a pretty nice place to live. Everyone is generally nice and tolerant. Gruu is a nice ruler; fair and stern when they need to be. They’re very good at listening to the people and doing what they can. Of course, others have their own opinions about Ruler Gruu, as there are always going to be laws that people disagree on. But Nebian citizens would have to be pretty idiotic to not see the luck in getting such a great ruler.” “Not like your biased or anything, living in Nebia?” Yeke pipes in with a raised brow. Dmitris smirk grows. “Not at all; I’ve actually lived in many kingdoms around Gaia(3). Picaria, Silvonya, New Moundland(4), Scalia(5), and Evieon(6). So far, Ruler Gruu has been the most just and fair, in my opinion.” Dmitri shrugs. “But I’m not trying to preach to either of you, you can make your own decisions. In general Bunny, Nebia is pretty nice. A lot of the locals like to spend their time near Nebias many different water sources. Maybe, when this is all over, I could show you around those waters too?” My eyes widen in shock, and I faintly notice Yeke stiffening. “Um, maybe?” I answer unsurely. Dmitri doesn’t seem at all affected. “Well, then I’ll be sure to try and convince you.” He winks at me and I blink back. “I’m so sorry Marcel,” I hear Yeke mutter in a slight groan under her breath. I look at her curiously, but Dmitri takes my attention, chatting away. I soon forget about Yekes odd, quiet apology to the vampire lord. “What’s your favorite color?” I blink. “My favorite color?” “Yeah, what is it?” He assures, grinning joyfully, his minty eyes calculating and curious. I hadn’t really thought about it. I’ve never had to think about it. “I don’t know,” I admit softly. Dmitri frowns, and Yeke suddenly turns serious. “We’re here. I’m going to have to separate from you two for a while.” Dmitri and I stare at her curiously; this is the first either of us have heard about her having to leave when we arrive to Kiru Kiru. Yeke notices our expressions, “I’m going to send a message to Marcel real fast, just to let him know we’ve made it safely to Nebia, at least. I was going to do it when we arrived to Oxitopia, but that’s such a long time span for anything to happen. Especially after last night, I don’t want to risk anything.” “Smart.” Dmitri comments. “Be careful Yeke, we’ll see you soon. Safe travels.” Yeke beams in response. “Thank you Bunny. Safe travels to you and Dmitri; I’ll see you soon.” I nod, and Dmitri and I watch Yeke flip her cloak hood up and stalk out of the carriage. I grab my scarf and wrap it around my neck and jaw. I flip up my hood as Dmitri grabs our bags. We walk out the carriage, and the rider drives off. Dmitri suddenly offers his arm to me. “Grab my arm, and stay close. With your no-scent, I’m hoping that if we stay close enough, my scent can mask yours.” Dmitri whispers softly. I nod and gently wrap my arm around his. The inn in front of us has a small fountain in front of it, with a small waterfall nearby clashing into a small creak. The inn is dark blue with accents of chrome blue, highlighting the water nearby. Surprisingly, it’s not very busy for how pretty it seems. Dmitri takes us up to the front desk, which is empty. Dmitri furrows his brows, “that’s odd.” He taps on a small button on the counter, which makes a small ringing sound. A wooden door behind the desk opens, and a pretty, female pixie with pink hair and light green feathers exits. She brightens immediately and I feel Dmitri stiffen. “Dmitri! Oh it’s so great to see you! I haven’t see you in a while, how are you?” She chirps, dashing closer to the counter. There’s a tight smirk on Dmitris face. “Vellu, I didn’t know you worked here.” “I started not too long ago,” she shrugs with a smile. Her two colored eyes, one pink and one green, zoom in on me. “Brought a friend?” She smiles mischievously, her eyes darting suggestively between the pixie and I. “You’re not someone I would think that would be the type to bring a friend to an inn, but hey, whatever you two like.” I’m not too sure what she means, but it’s making Dmitri blush. He coughs, his forehead down to his neck burning red. “It’s not exactly like that.” Vellu smirks widely, “sure. Got it.” She winks at both of us. She hands Dmitri the keys. “Second floor on the right.” “Thanks Vellu.” Keys fisted in his hand, he leads us away quickly. Basically dragging me with his long legs and quick speed. “Don’t have too much fun!” Vellu calls behind us. I furrow my brows. “What did she mean by that Dmitri?” I ask in a light whisper. “Don’t worry about it, she’s just being weird. Let’s go relax. We’re gonna have a long trip to Oxitopia tomorrow.” I frown at the dismissal, but I continue to follow silently. Once we reach our room, I finally take off my scarf and cloak with a sigh. Marcel... OooooooooooooooO Yeke stares down at the letter before her. “He’s going to be so pissed...” she groans to herself. But he needs to know about their new team member. Even if it’s going to severely annoy him and piss him off. And like want to bite Yeke’s head off. She is, after all, letting one of the the most well known playboys, who very clearly has an interest in Bunny, be in charge of watching Bunny with Yeke. Bunny, the very creature he wants to become his life mate. (1) Kiru Kiru: Nebia city. (2)Ruler Gruu: ruler of the water elemental inn home kingdom, Nebia. (3) Gaia: the planet. (4) New Moundland: were-weasel species (were-ferret, were-otter, were-skunk) home kingdom. (5) Scalia: were-reptile species (were-snake, were-alligator, were-crocodile) home kingdom. (6) Evieon: fire elemental home kingdom.
