“Please Daddy, not that too!” she wailed. He didn’t argue with her, he never did. Turning away, he opened the tool shed door and waited for her to leave first. “Here,” he said, picking up the belt and handing it to her. Grudgingly, she took it from him, and walked back toward the house. It was near dinner time, always the worst time to display a punished pair of buns. Everyone was there to see her misery, her mother, her brothers, and if she was really unlucky, there would sometimes be a family friend. Thankfully, this time, she had only her family to deal with.
