“Oh, I don’t think I will,” she responded, and she meant it. Looking into his handsome eyes, she saw their light and laughing glimmer, as if some great weight had lifted from his shoulders and hers.
“You said commitment?” she reminded him.
“Yes, I did, and I meant what I said. Never take what I say lightly. If you suspect this relationship is for keeps, as far as I’m concerned, it is.”
“For keeps, I like that,” she said, glad that the slate had been cleared, and they were back to the best part of their relationship. “So, does that mean you’ll spend the night?”
“Ah, perhaps,” he was teasing. “Perhaps.”
She smiled on the outside, being at peace on the inside. And as the two walked out the door arm in arm, her rear still smarting from earlier in the day, she had a pleasant reminder of all that she had—and all that she needed.
