Prologue

Cloe knew what she had to do. She had to escape. It's the only way she could prevent her father from completely ruining her life, or what was left of it anyway. She sat slouch against her bedroom door as tears rolled down her cheeks. "What did I ever do to him?" "Is it because I look like her?" she thought. She felt drained. "Why do I even try to figure him out. It's like he became a completely different person after she died..." Cloe got up slowly, she felt cramped from sitting in one position for so long. She stretched. Her mind was made up. She was leaving tonight. ********* 12:45pm Cloe creeped down the stairs making sure to skip the squeaky one. She paused at the landing and peaked down into the living room. She froze holding her breath. He father was there talking to the stranger she had overheard him talking to earlier. He was patting him on the back laughing "I haven't told her yet, and  I don't plan to. Just make sure you have your van and a few men ready because she'll put up a fight... She's a feisty one." he said both of them erupting into laughter. "He sounds pretty happy for someone who's about to sell his only child" she thought. She shifted the bag on her back as she took one last look at him. He was her father after all. He was pretty old but didn't look it at all. His blond hair was faded slightly at the roots that's the only thing that gave him away. She quietly made her way back up the stairs to her room. She locked the door behind her. She turned taking in her room for the last time. She had some good memories here but those were only while her mom was still alive... She opened her window and scaled the tree that grew right by it. She jumped when she was close to the ground. She took off running. Not looking back. There was no turning back.
