Gavril I sensed the change in Naomi the moment the car pulled away from the curb. She waved at the girls and then tucked herself against the door, keeping a distance between us. From her reaction to me in Inessa’s kitchen, I’d thought the things we discussed today had been forgotten. Clearly that wasn’t the case.
