Chapter 10:Sofia’s Cry.

1750 Words
Sofia pov: I looked at him, breathed in, closed my eyes, and when I opened them, the tears finally broke free, spilling down my cheeks as I sobbed, “Why? Why do you want me as your mate? Why do you want us to stay mated after everything after the pain, after you let her hurt me, after she abused me, after all the things she said? Why didn’t you do anything? Why did you just stand there with that look of indifference? Why didn’t you stop her? Why didn’t you stand up for me? And now you say I’m yours how can I be yours when you never once protected me? Just because I ended up mated to you doesn’t mean I want to stay mated, Damian. I don’t want to be your mate, this time.” I was crying full out, my voice raw, punching his chest, pushing him away. He stood there, eyes dark with sorrow, a broken look etched on his face. “Calm down, please,” he whispered, voice trembling. “I’ll make everything right. I promise those who hurt you will pay. I already have Vanessa locked up.” A bitter laugh escaped my lips. “Really? You have Vanessa locked up. So what? Will that change anything? Will it erase the past, the hurt, the way she and everyone else treated me? You have Vanessa, locked up?But she wasn’t the only one who beat me, who hurt me. There are so many people—are you going to lock up the entire pack? Are you going to lock yourself, or my father, or everyone who stood by and watched me break? They shunned me, ignored me, treated me as if I didn’t exist just because I was born an omega. And yet you want me to be your mate, to stand by you, to rule with you? Tell me, Damian, how am I supposed to rule a pack that never loved or appreciated me, that never cared about me because I’m an omega? Say something, anything.” My voice cracked, and I laughed, a hollow, desperate sound, then sank to my knees, crying uncontrollably. He approached, his arms wrapping around me, holding me tight, his own tears falling. “Everything will be fine,” he murmured, his voice thick with emotion. “Calm down. I’m here. I’m sorry.” He held me as I wept, all the pain, anger, and suffering I’d buried for so long finally crashing out. In that moment, my wolf’s voice echoed in my mind, “Remember, Sofia, remember what the Moon Goddess said—don’t reject him. Give him a chance. Give the bond a chance. Let the bond lead.” I closed my eyes, feeling the weight of that promise, and let the raw, aching truth of my heart and his settle over us both. I stayed there, in his arms, for a few minutes, and then he finally said to me, “Go use the bathroom and freshen up so you can have something to eat. You need food. My stomach growled loudly, a deep, empty rumble that made my face flush with embarrassment. I could feel the heat rising to my cheeks as I stood up, trying to hide my shame, and headed toward the bathroom. He called out, “You can pick any clothes from the walk-in closet and wear. I’ll go get breakfast for you.” With that, he left the room, and I was left alone with my thoughts. I entered the bathroom and was immediately struck by its luxury and spaciousness, a stark contrast to the tiny, cramped washroom I had in my own room. The marble floors and walls gleamed, and the large, rain-shower head above me looked like something out of a high-end hotel. I took off the shirt I was wearing and turned on the shower, letting the warm water cascade over my body. As the water hit my skin, I felt so relaxed, and my muscles, which I hadn’t even realized were tense, began to unwind. I reached for the conditioner on the shelf and applied it to my hair, working it through thoroughly before rinsing it out. I used the new toothbrush I found, brushing my teeth while looking into the mirror, and I was shocked by my reflection. I looked totally different from before. My eye color was brighter, a mix of green and blue that looked beautiful but weird compared to my usual blue eyes. My cheekbones were more defined, and my lips fuller. My thick brown hair now had stripes of white in it, and I said to Albaz,“What exactly is going on? Why do I look like this?” She said to me, “Now that you have me, your looks are more defined. Those new features in your eyes and hair are a glimpse of me. When you’re in wolf form, our eyes are green, and our fur is white. The stripes of white hair indicate our white fur, and the green in your eyes shows our green eyes.” I stood there, staring at my reflection, trying to process all the changes, feeling a mix of shock. I felt and looked really beautiful. After I finished my shower, I wrapped the towel tightly around me and stepped out of the bathroom, making my way to the walk-in closet. As I opened the door, the lights flickered on automatically, and I was immediately struck by the sheer luxury of the space. The room was massive, filled with rows of high-end clothes, shelves of expensive shoes, and open displays of gleaming wristwatches. It wasn’t surprising—Damian always dressed in luxury, and most of these things came to him for free, given his status as a supernatural celebrity who modeled for major companies. I’d cleaned this room countless times before, but I’d never really taken in the details. I began searching for something to wear, and when I opened one of the closets, I was surprised to see female dresses hanging there. I picked out a simple top and a pair of jeans, and when I put them on, they fit me perfectly—so well, in fact, that I was confused. Were these clothes for Vanessa? Did he buy them for her? “Don’t think too much,” Albaz said to me in my mind. “The clothes are ours. They’re new. I think he got them for us.” After putting on the clothes and drying my hair, I stepped out of the walk-in closet and saw Damian setting up food on the mini dining table. When he looked at me, his expression was one of shock, and it made me feel nervous and restless. Was he angry with me for wearing Vanessa’s clothes? I hadn’t seen any other female clothes in there, and I was already on edge, thinking all sorts of things. Damian walked up to me, gently raising my chin so I’d look at him. “I’m not angry with you for putting on the clothes,” he said softly. “And no, they’re not for Vanessa. They’re yours. My mom brought them for you while you were unconscious in the hospital. I’m glad they fit you so well—you look beautiful, by the way.” I blushed at his words, but then I looked at him, shocked. “How did you know what I was thinking?” I asked. “We’re mates,” he said with a small smile. “So I get to hear most of your thoughts sometimes.” “Wow, great. That’s just what I needed,” I said, half-sarcastic. He laughed, and the sound was like music to my ears, but I was still nervous, still uncertain about this whole mating thing. “Come on, let’s feed your grumbling stomach,” he said, leading me to the table. I could feel my stomach rumble in response, and I couldn’t help but feel a little embarrassed. After we started eating, I finally asked the question that had been on my mind. Damian, why exactly did you lock Vanessa up? Isn’t she your girlfriend? And did my father approve of the lock-up? Won’t this bring more problems for me?” He looked at me, his eyes softening, and answered in a tender tone, “She deserves it and no she’s not my girlfriend Sofia. I found you in a pool of your own blood, half-dead. It’s a miracle you’re alive. She had no right to do what she did to you, and now she’s paying for all the harm she’s caused.” His voice grew firmer. “Aside from the bathroom incident, we found out that for the past year, she and her minions have been dragging you to the dungeon and having other warriors beat you up. Why didn’t you tell anyone about that, Sofia?” I lowered my head, focusing on my food, avoiding his question. He reached out, gently touching my hand. Baby, say something.” I swallowed hard, my voice barely above a whisper. “What exactly was I supposed to say? Who was I supposed to report it to? My mother, my father—they don’t care about me. The Alpha barely acknowledges my existence, only helping when it’s absolutely necessary. And Luna? She’s barely been around for the past year because of the business she’s setting up. There’s actually nobody to talk to about it. The elders in the pack—nobody cares. In fact, everybody knew exactly what she was doing to me, but they all turned a blind eye to it. So, Damian, it’s nothing new. I just...lived through it.” Before he could respond, a mind-link broadcasted to everyone in the pack from the senior elder: “Attention, everyone. The court hearing will be held today. Everyone is to meet at the court hall by 11 AM for Vanessa’s court hearing.” I looked at Damian, shocked. “Court hearing?” He nodded, his expression serious. “Yes, Vanessa and everyone who harmed you, will be facing their judgment today. So, let’s eat up.” I was stunned. “My mother is going to kill me if they rule against Vanessa. I felt a chill run down my spine, and I looked at Damian, my eyes wide with worry. He reached out, his hand covering mine, his touch warm and reassuring. “Don’t worry, Sofia, I’m here. We’ll get through this together.
