Beth pov:
Things haven't been going according to plan. Everything's going the opposite way. Damian hasn't accepted me or the child I'm carrying, and I don't know what to do. I've put in so much effort, and I can't let that good-for-nothing Omega mate of his ruin it all.
I paced back and forth, wondering what my next move should be. The stakes are high, and I'm not ready to lose everything. Not because of some weak and useless Omega.
I was beginning to wonder what was taking my father so long. He was supposed to meet me in my room to discuss our next plan. I called my guard, and he came in.
"Where's my father?" I asked.
"He's attending a council meeting, but he'll be here any minute," he replied.
A few minutes later, the door opened, and my father walked in. The look in his eyes - hate and disappointment - told me things had gone bad.
He sat down, poured himself a drink, and said, everything is not as it seems. We've underestimated people in this pack."
"What do you mean, Father?" I asked.
"That beta Ben is a lycan. He almost beat one of the elders to death if the warriors hadn't stopped him. edler Michael would be dead."
I was shocked. A bate, lycan? How's that possible?
"There's more to it," he said. "I need to find out what's going on. We need to move to the next phase of our plan."
He looked at me. "You've disappointed me. Don't do it again."
I explained, but he wouldn't listen. "You should've made him mark you," he said.
I looked at my father, desperation creeping into my voice. "Must we really go through with this plan? Can't we find another way?"
His expression was unyielding. "No, there's no other way. This is the only way. With you married to Damian, you'll have equal rights to the pack's power and resources. The Blackwood pack's traditions will work in our favor - they share power equally with their wives."
I tried to reason. "But beta Ben almost killed an elder. The others might be scared to support us."
His smile was cold. "If that's the case, then we'll get rid of Sofia."
My heart sank. "You mean kill her?"
"Yes," he said, his voice devoid of emotion. "That's the only way to remove her from the equation."
After he left, I sat in stunned silence, remembering the events that led me here. I never wanted to be part of this. The weight of it all was crushing me.
Flashback
I finally arrived at Bearmont Kingdom, and I couldn't help but smile. It's been eight years since I left, and I'm happy to be back. The disagreement with my father had taken a toll on me, but I'm glad I've got the chance to make amends.
My cousin, the king, had granted me permission to leave, and I'd spent the past few years with my lover in the human world. But with my father's constant requests and my mother's pleas, I knew it was time to return and fix things.
The driver picked me up from the airport, and we drove straight to my family's mansion. As we pulled up, I saw everyone waiting outside, eager to welcome me back. The warm hugs and smiles were just what I needed.
My father looked genuinely happy to see me, and his apology for being stubborn meant a lot. He said I was free to marry Daniel, and I couldn't wait to share the news.
I rushed to my room, called Daniel, and told him the good news. He was thrilled, and we made plans for his family to visit mine tomorrow for a proper introduction. He hadn't followed me back because he was afraid of my father's reaction
The next day, Dani and I met up at the mall to pick out a gift for my father. We decided on a nice watch, and as we were looking, I felt as if Someone was staring at me.
I turned to see a handsome stranger's gaze fixed on me. I smiled, then went back to choosing a watch with Dani.
After shopping, we headed to my family's residence, where Dani's parents joined us for dinner. The evening was pleasant, and we finalized the engagement ceremony and wedding plans.
Two days later, my father called me into his office. I thought it was about the wedding, but I was wrong.
"Bethnie, how are things going?" he asked, his expression unreadable.
"Fine, Father. The wedding preparations are going perfectly well."
"Are you happy about the whole thing?" he asked, his eyes glinting.
I hesitated, unsure where this was going. "Yes, I'm happy. Thank you for accepting us."
He smiled, a cold glare in his eyes. "I accepted because you'll never end up with him."
Confusion washed over me. "What do you mean?"
"I only said yes to all this to bring you back home, to make you let your guard down," he said, his voice dripping with malice.
My bear was rising to the surface, and I knew I had to get out of her before i really kill this man.
"There's no way I'll let you marry that low-life," he sneered. "I brought you back for a bigger purpose."
I laughed, incredulous. "The wedding date's set, and the king has signed off on it. There's no going back."
He leaned forward, a sinister grin spreading across his face. "Oh, there is. You're going to marry the future Alpha of Blackwood."
My blood ran cold. "You want me to reject my mate for a werewolf? You think he'll accept me?"
He laughed. "You're my daughter, Bethnie. You'll do as you're told
I glared at my father, anger burning within me. "You can't make me reject my mate for anyone," I spat. "Even if he's the Dragon King, I won't give give up on my mate the one the goddess chose for me."
My father's smile was infuriating. "I'm giving you the best life, daughter," he said. "Marry Damian Blackwood. He's powerful and well-known in both the supernatural kingdom and the human world. His family's resources are what we need to move our operation to the next level."
I laughed, incredulous. "Father, we are rich, practically royals. What do we need with their wealth?"
His expression turned cold. "We might have wealth, but they have resources. And you'll marry him, or..."
"Or what?" I challenged,
"I'll kill your mate," he said, his voice devoid of emotion.
I scoffed. "You can't do that. Dan his powerful, not just someone you can easily kill."
My father's smile returned, and he showed me a tablet with footage that made my blood run cold. "I have my resources, Bethnie. I know what you were hiding in that human world."
My eyes widened as I realized the extent of his greed. "Father, how did you get to him?
He leaned forward, a cruel glare in his eyes. "I have power and resources. I use them to find out what I need to know. You don't want your precious one to die, do you?"
I felt a chill run down my spine. "Where is he?" I demanded.
"Somewhere safe," he said. "You'll see him when the mission is complete. And as for your mate and his family, they're under my custody too. You won't see them until it's done."
I was seething. "How can you be so evil and wicked? I'm your daughter, and you're doing this to me?"
"This is for the betterment of our family," he said, his voice cold. "Your cousin is weak to be king, and I need all the resources I can get to remove him from the throne."
I stood up, my eyes blazing with anger. "I hate you," I spat. "I hope karma comes for you one day."
Present time
I had tried to stop Damian from asking me out, given him signs that my father was setting a trap. But he'd been blinded by his loss, unable to see it.
Now, I was trapped, forced to play along with my father's evil plans. But I would do anything to protect my mate and son.
