"You left several missed calls. I thought something was wrong," Adrian said. "I called back."
"About three hours later," Ava said quietly. "I just wanted to see how you were doing; see if you cared about how I was doing."
Adrian let out a sigh. "You were with your father. I had no cause to worry."
"I had no cause to worry about you either," Ava said. "It seemed you were being well-taken care of. Your guest answered my earlier calls. You had company and she seemed very pleasant. If you had answered the call when I did call, I wouldn't have known. I think I would have preferred not knowing."
Adrian sighed. "I was quite hung over. She's just an old friend whom I met at a bar after we finished the Council meeting."
"Did you enjoy her company?" Ava asked.
