The light within her responded to the infernal flames that surrounded Abaddon and circled around her. The light blazed brighter and pushed the flames back. The flames grew more intense and pushed the light back in retaliation. Light and fire fought for dominance as angel and demon looked at each other.
Standing now within touching distance mother and daughter stared at one another. The berserk hound of hell and the former demon. The words felt strange in Cora’s mind. Former demon. Because she was now something else. Being a demon was all that she had known but as mother had said she had never really been good at that.
