The Dawn of Utopia

307 Words
Many years from now, in a world divided by an unbreachable chasm between the rich and the poor, the aftermath of the Solar Outage has driven most of the remaining population to seek refuge in the city of Sanctuary. This luxurious metropolis, known as Utopia, offers the elite a simple, carefree life, while the desperate inhabitants of Suburbia, the surrounding area, struggle under relentless curfews and the harsh reality of daily survival. The contrast between the two worlds is stark, a testament to the injustice that reigns supreme. In Suburbia, the elite celebrate Hitch—a joyous occasion when an offspring from their ranks marries a coming-of-age child from the citizens of Suburbia. But the elite have long since exhausted their ‘Stock’ of viable partners. Every year during the High Sun festivities, when a group of citizens come of age, the elite mingle among them, handpicking suitable partners. Many dream of this day, seeing it as an escape from the hardships of Suburbia, but not everyone is eager, as tales of the true intentions of the elite have spread far and wide. The rumors speak of manipulation, exploitation, and a life where freedom is but an illusion. In the shadows of the Underworld, the rebels lurk, silently watching, waiting for the opportune moment to strike. Their existence is uncertain, whispered about in hushed tones, but one thing remains clear—they are the only hope for the citizens of Suburbia. Led by the enigmatic and fearless leaders, the rebels are determined to expose the truth and dismantle the oppressive regime that governs Utopia. Their mission is fraught with danger, as betrayal and deception are ever-present threats. The path to freedom is perilous, but their resolve is unwavering. As they navigate the treacherous landscape, they must remain vigilant, for the fate of many rests in their hands.
