CHAPTER FIFTY-NINE

The next day, Elias brought all the files to the astonishment of his friend Rowland. Did you finish all of them?” Rowland asked him, “Yes I did and they are ready to be carried out as soon as possible” Elias replied.

His secretary came and took the files off his hands as he entered his office. Rowland followed him. “So how is Agatha?” He asked Elias, “well she is fine, dropped her at her house before coming to work today” Elias replied. “Isn’t she going to work today?” Rowland asked, “she is but she couldn’t wear the dress she wore yesterday so she had to go home to change” Elias answered

“Alright” Rowland replied, “today is going to be a busy day for Delta. I.T.” he added, “Yeah, a lot of client meetings, I know” Elias replied as he sat on his seat.

Just then, Mr. Kim came into the office and greeted, “good morning sir”, Elias replied, “good morning Mr. Kim”, “Relux oil management just came in and they are at the conference room right now” Mr. Kim announced. “Why are you the one giving me this information and not my secretary?” Elias asked with a raised eyebrow

“Uhm, well I decided to do it myself to show the urgency of this meeting sir” Mr. Kim replied. “Okay then, let’s get going” Elias said, “we do not want to keep them waiting”. He added as he got up.

On getting to the conference room, the Relux oil team of 4 stood up as they all had a handshake with Elias, Rowland and Mr. Kim. The secretary of Elias was holding some printed papers as she began sharing it to all that were seated.

“Hello” a voice beckoned, and Elias turned back to see a gorgeous lady stretching her hand for a handshake, “Hello, I’m Ella” she introduced herself. Elias smiled and accepted the shake, “Mid to meet you” he said. “I love the way you conducted this meeting, explaining to us in detail every thing we need to know” she said with a charming smile.

“Thank you dear” Elias replied, “can we have lunch today?” Ella asked, “Well, I am kind of busy at the moment, have a few things I have to tidy in the office” Elias protested. “I’ll wait” Ella insisted.

“What the hell was that?” Elias asked after getting to into his office with Mr. Kim and Rowland. “Maybe she has nothing at heart, it could be a friendly and business lunch meeting” Mr. Kim said and Rowland nodded agreeing to what Mr. Kim said.

Elias could not protest again as he checked his wristwatch, “I will only be with her for 30 minutes” he said, “please when it is time and I am not yet back, call me” he told his friend, Rowland. “Alright I will” Rowland replied and Elias walked out of the office.

At lunch, Elias and Ella talked on random things such as business, the economy of the country and sports as they ate. “She has good vibes” Elias said to himself as he dropped a spoon of food into his mouth. “I love your company” Ella said, “thank you, it is what it is today because of the diligence of my workers” Elias replied. This made the young lady laugh before speaking, “I mean you, your presence”, “oh!” Elias exclaimed feeling embarrassed as he touched his neck tie and his laps.

“So tell me, are you in a relationship? Because this special woman will really be lucky having an intelligent and funny man as a husband or boyfriend. Not to talk about knowing he is wealthy” Ella said. This was the question Elias dreaded and prayed not to be asked but here it was staring at his face.

Elias smiled, hiding his fears and said, “well, I am in a relationship”. “Oh wow!” Ella replied clapping. “You see, not all men will agree to this especially when they see a beautiful and charming young lady like myself” she added. Elias forced a laugh out of his mouth, “she is becoming cocky” he said to himself. “Rowland, where are you? I need that call”.

After they had finished eating, Ella took the napkin in front of her and wiped off a crumb of food on Elias mouth. Elias was becoming uncomfortable. “Here is my card, handsome” she said dropping her business card, “Call me whenever you feel like” she said as she stood up and left the table.

Elias stared in awe. He has never experienced this before, “this is a story to tell my friends” he said to himself as he slowly stood up and went to the direction of his office.

On his way there, his phone rang and it was Rowland, he picked it and said, “you called late but I’m glad it is over, I’ll be right there” ending the call. 

“What happened? You guys talked quick” Rowland said after seeing Elias walk into his office, “We didn’t talk quick, you called late” Elias replied. “I didn’t, the matter of fact, I didn’t call one minute late. You can check” Rowland said. Elias looked at his watch and then at his phone call and didn’t say a word confirming that Rowland was right.

“So how did it go?” Rowland asked, and Elias dropped the business card Ella gave him. “Is that what I think it is?” Rowland asked and Elias nodded his head affirmatively. “So what will you do now?” Rowland asked, “nothing, I will just throw this away and pretend nothing happened simple as that” Elias replied.

“I did a background check and she is the owner of Relux oil” Rowland pointed out. This made Elias sit up, “Are you sure of what you just said?” Elias asked, “Yes” Rowland replied. “So you need to give her a call because Relux oil is our main contractor and we do not have to miss this opportunity” Rowland advised.
