CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVEN After the eating session was over, Aza and Dnia sat in the living room watching a movie while Rowland went to check on his daughter in her room. “Hello little angel” he said after he had opened the door of her room. “Daddy this food was delicious, your cooking skills are getting better” Rebecca said smiling before cleaning her mouth with her hands. “well, baby, I didn’t actually cook this” he said sitting beside her on the bed, “then who?” Rebecca asked. “Aunty Dinia did” Rowland replied. “Aunty Dinia is here?” Rebecca asked in excitement before running, leaving her room to Rowland who smiled and shook his head. A light knock was heard on the door and Elias’ walked in, “Hey” he said as he walked slowly towards him. “Hey! Elias, don’t worry I will be down shortly, I just came to check on Rebecca” Rowland said, standing up and picking the plate which Rebecca ate with. “Are you okay?” Elias asked worried, “Yes I am thank you” Rowland replied heading out of the room when Elias held him by the shoulder. “Rowland, I saw you cry at the dinner table. So you can’t tell me everything is okay. I want to know what really made you sad and changed your mood” Elias said and with a smile Rowland lied, “that was tears of joy Elias, nothing else so please do not worry okay?” and he left the room leaving Elias speechless. “I knew what I saw and I know he is not happy but I cannot wrap my head around the reason why. I think I have to try harder” Elias said to himself and left the room. Downstairs, Dinia and Rebecca were having fun, playing with each other’s hair while Aza watched keenly with a happy face. Rowland entered the room, sat down and said, “Aza, I have a question for you”. Aza turned to his direction and replied, “I am all ears”.  Elias entered the room before Rowland could ask his question, “I have been thinking of what Raphael said about you guys not having a soul. You remember right?” he finally asked, “Yes we do” they chorused. “Okay and we all know it is only the soul that travels when the body dies. The soul goes on a journey and according to what Aza told us, he was in a timeless loop” Rowland added. “Yes you have a point” Dinia said, “does this mean you guys have souls?” Rowland asked. This question brought silence in the room before Aza spoke up, “I really don’t have the answer to the question, all I know is that I walked in an empty space till I found the door that lead me to my body”. “This is a mystery and we need to have answers” Rowland said,. “It would be better we keep it as a mystery because we never know what we would find” Elias suggested. “I agree with you” Aza concord, nodding too, “even though I would love to let this slide and not try to find out what happened, I still agree with Rowland. Who knows what we shall find and this will increase our mental capacity” Dinia said. Rowland smiled and he thanked her for supporting him, “thank you”, “you are welcome” she replied. “This is a journey we may not like the path it would bring to us. We should be careful and just let slide. It is not everything meant to be known to man” Elias protested. “How are we going to find out this mystery?” Aza asked, “this is beyond the physical and I should warm we should not mess with the spiritual any more” he warned, drawing his ears with his hands. “We won’t be meddling with anything that doesn’t collorate to what we are looking for” Rowland assured. “We will find a way” he concluded.  Elias wondered why Rowland wanted to know this, “is it the reason he was sad earlier?” he asked himself as he faded into his thoughts. “Is there something God is not letting us know?”, “Are we sure we are not dreading into unfamiliar places?”. This question Rowland asked also disturbed Aza as he fell into his own thoughts. He had never thought of his resurrection that way. He was happy not to ask the how question or seek answers. “How are we going to go about this?” was one question that lingered in his head. Rebecca who noticed the sudden silence in the room as every one had drifted into their respective thoughts, she left the room and climbed upstairs to her room. Few days later, every one had returned to their lives, Elias and Rowland returned to the company while Aza and Dinia started a food business and it was blossoming. “Your food tastes great, the best one I have ever tasted, what is your secret recipe?” was one common question Dinia got from her customers and she was happy she was making a difference in the food industry and at the same time having more time to spend with Aza. Rowland hadn’t stopped thinking of everything, he searched spiritual books and books that taught on the soul. He couldn’t find nothing, “if I do not find the reason and how Aza got a soul, I may not discover and help Elias get one” he thought to himself on several occasions. “They may have souls but wasn’t told by God and if not for the death of Aza, they may not know. What do I have to do? Where should I go?” Raphael was a good option to call for answers but the last statement he made to Rowland before leaving concerning his last visit to him made him k sniff out the idea of praying. “it’s no use, he won’t come”. “Mr. Rowland? Mr. Rowland” Mr. Kim called his name after watching Rowland make no movement two minutes after he walked into his office. And with a third call, he tapped Rowland who jerked in fear. “Aee you okay?” Mr. Kim asked calmly. “Yes I am” Rowland replied, adjusting his sitting position, “please do remember to get in touch with this client” Me. Kim said passing a document across to him on the table. ‘I will” . Rowland replied.
