CHAPTER 2
Seo Yuan couldn’t shake the feeling that she had just stepped into something far more dangerous than she realized.
Even as the night continued and conversations filled the grand hall, her mind was stuck on him. Min Yoon-gi. The way his presence commanded attention. The way his smirk carried the weight of something unspoken. The way he had said her name like it belonged to him.
I’ll remember you, Seo Yuan.
A shiver ran down her spine. Why did those words feel like a warning?
She was pulled out of her thoughts when a hand gently touched her arm.
“Yuan, are you okay?”
She turned to see Lee Ji Hoon, the man who had raised her, looking at her with quiet concern. His sharp, yet kind, eyes searched hers.
She forced a smile. “I’m fine. Just not used to these kinds of parties.”
Ji Hoon chuckled. “You’ll get used to it.”
Will I?
Her gaze drifted back toward the crowd, searching for the silver-haired man who had unsettled her so much. But he was gone.

Meanwhile...
From a balcony above the ballroom, Min Yoon-gi watched her.
He leaned against the railing, fingers resting lightly on a half-filled glass of whiskey. Below him, the party carried on, but his focus was entirely on Seo Yuan.
She was different.
Not in the usual ways people claim—he didn’t care for things like kindness or warmth. But the way she looked at him—like she wasn’t afraid, like she refused to be intimidated—that made her dangerous.
And intriguing.
A quiet chuckle escaped his lips. Troublesome.
But he already knew himself well enough. He had never been good at staying away from trouble.
“You look interested.”
A smooth voice interrupted his thoughts. Bang Chan, one of his closest mafia allies, stood beside him, sipping from his drink with a knowing smirk.
Yoon-gi didn’t bother denying it. “Who is she?”
Bang Chan glanced at Seo Yuan, then back at Yoon-gi. “Lee Ji Hoon’s adopted daughter.”
Yoon-gi’s grip on his glass tightened. Lee Ji Hoon. A man who was respected—and feared—in the underground world.
And yet, he had raised someone like her?
Interesting.
Bang Chan chuckled. “You’re staring too much, Yoon-gi. People will think you’ve gone soft.”
Yoon-gi scoffed, finishing his drink in one swallow before setting the glass down. “I don’t get attached.”
Then, he walked away.
But deep down, he already knew. This girl was going to be his biggest problem.
